Food Review: Windowsill In The Woods | Flavourful pies in Jalan Besar [Closed]

The Place Located just a few doors from The Bravery Café, Windowsill In The Woods is not exactly a very new dessert café, but we feel that it deserves to be reviewed in our blog. I have some Thai friends who were in Singapore recently and this is one dessert café in Jalan Besar or Lavender estate which we think is a good place to bring our friends.IMG_0931The décor of Windowsill In The Woods gives us a very Scandinavian, wooden and slightly fantasy ambience. We can’t miss the huge teddy bear in the centre stage of the café, which seemed to be a must have photo spot here.IMG_0938The Food The pies no doubt makes up much of Windowsill In The Woods, which are the sweet pies not the savoury pies. There are so many flavours that we thought it would be best to ask the friendly staff to describe and recommend the pies based on our palate preferences.IMG_0934Other than the famous pies here, the coffee are made from the highly sought after Liberty beans. There is also a savoury menu here which changes quite often, but seriously that was not why we are brought here.IMG_0945Every flavour of the pie seems popular here, so we decided to try four very distinct flavours. The pies are reasonably prices given the type of ingredients which go into each pie, in the range of $7-8.

From the left, the Strawberry Lemon is refreshingly sour, with the lemon taste more overbearing than the strawberry flavour. The S’mores pie is definitely the chocolate lover’s favourite, as the sticky dark chocolate fudge is damn yummy. The Banana Almond Brittle is surprisingly good, given that I am usually not a banana dessert person. I conclude that it is the combination of the banana mousse and salty caramel which makes it much more yummy. One of my favourites has got to be the Grasshopper pie as I love mint and chocolate, with the after-eights mint topped on the chocolate cake base! IMG_0952Will I return again? With so many cafes around such as The Bravery Café or Chye Seng Huat, this is almost like the perfect place to have desserts after all the coffee dose!
