The Hotel Located at the Senayan district at Indonesia capital city Jakarta, Accor’s Fairmont Jakarta gets you the spacious interiors you seek for in a bustling city. As with the usual in Jakarta, the hotel sits amidst a multi-complex of commerical-hospitality-retail development, with the Sentral Senayan office buildings towering beside the popular Plaza Senayan shopping centre. The hotel links directly to the complex via an underground passageway, or just a street above.
Developed by a Japanese construction conglomerate, the project takes even the most intricate details seriously. Big space, column free entrance lobby, coupled with minimalistic woody tones finishings and marble floors, the prestige factor of the hotel gets reminded at every turn of the corner.
The Room Categories of rooms here includes the entry level Fairmont Rooms (49sqm) and the corner Deluxe Rooms (60sqm) giving guests a L-shaped windows and a wide perspective of the Jakarta skyline. For lounge access, check yourself into the Fairmont Gold rooms.
You get either of the 2 views at the rooms in Fairmont Jakarta – either that of the City Skyline or the Senayan Golf Course. Yes, you heard it right, a 9-hole golf course right in the middle of the city. Either view, this is a perfect compliment to the dark tones interior the room takes on. Built with the Japanese zen concept in mind, you will find the room done with simple elegance. The shower space is generous, with a bathtub and rain-shower options available for guests; and shower with joy as with the Le Labo shower amenities at Fairmont.
If you are looking for a different experience, Fairmont Jakarta also offers long-stay Sky Suites – all located at the higher floors of the building.
The Facilities One of the most impressive Fitness Centre I have seen at 625sqm, that’s roughly the size 13 Fairmont Rooms, there’s no excuse why you are not burning some calories here. Although admittedly, I didn’t manage to visit the gym for a workout at all as I was caught busy exploring the city despite it being open for 24/7.
On the same floor as the fitness centre is the swimming pool, offering unblocked views with the hotel being surrounded by golf course on one end and the Senayan Sports Complex on the other. Be here for the perfect suntan, or if you want to escape the indoors for a leisure swim.
If your room grants you access to the Gold Lounge, then you might just have one less reason to leave the hotel now. Serving light bites and beverages throughout the day, with breakfast and high tea served here too, the quality of the food here was unsurprisingly good. The lounge gets you a sweeping view of the Jakarta city skyline too, perhaps the best spot for you to soak in the sunset at the comfort of a lounge.
The Restaurants Fairmont Jakarta has an impressive list of dining options, including concepts managed in-house by the hotel and tenants. The all-day dining restaurant, Spectrum, offers international buffet options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and having had my meals here, Spectrum does not disappoint with its widespread options and decent quality.
If you are looking for Italian food, the casual diner Sapori Deli will be an option. The deli is located on the same floor as 2 other concepts – 1945 (Upscale Local Indonesia Cuisine) and House of Yuen (Cantonese Restaurant).
For afternoon tea, or whenever you are craving for some sweets, the Peacock Lounge at the Hotel’s lobby does not just satisfy your palates, but also pleases the eye with a gorgeous space.
After meals, you can head right across the lobby to Barong Bar, conceptualised with Balinese influence. And if your preference is for a roof-top open-air space, with views of the city, perhaps the K22 Bar will be your pick to enjoy the poison of the day.
Perhaps the most beautiful restaurant in the hotel, View serve up European fusion food in the high-ceiling space and at level 22, a sweeping view of the Senayan Golf Course.
The Surroundings As mentioned earlier, the Fairmont Jakarta is located just next to the Sentral Senayan office buildings, and the Plaza Senayan and Senayan City shopping centres. While the malls may not be the latest in town, you will find many mass luxury brands and mid-end restaurants just walking distance from the hotel.
In the upcoming Asian Games 2018, which Jakarta (together with Palembang) will be playing host, the main venues are located just a stone-throw away from the hotel. Of course, if you are into golf, perhaps the 9-hole Senayan Golf Course on the other end of the hotel will interest you further.
Getting Here The Singapore-Jakarta air route is the second busiest international air route with more than 3 million passengers in 2015. Both Singapore Airlines and Scoot ply the route, with flights on Scoot going from as low as S$55, for travels by 24 March 2018. Scoot also flies to other Indonesian cities, including Surabaya, Denpasar (Bali) and Palembang (from Nov 2017).
From Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Fairmont Jakarta, a drive of approximately 45 minutes to cover the 30km distance. Of course, you can arrange for a limousine ride with the hotel, or take the always reliable Blue Bird taxis from the airport.
Rants The property is an upscale project, and you should note the premium price at the dining concepts here to, if you are looking to dine here – of course, you can be assured of the quality too.
Overall Experience Our previous stay at a Fairmont was coincidentally at Fairmont’s other property in Indonesia – Fairmont Sanur Bali, and a visit back to this brand definitely didn’t disappoint. Proximity to Jakarta’s key business and retail districts, plus a property that took serious care of even the most trivial of things, you know your stay in the city will be a five-star experience.
