Omurice Keisuke
We always wonder what else is there in store for Keisuke Group, known for reinventing new Japanese concepts in Singapore. After the previous launch of Beef Sukiyaki Don Keisuke in Tanjong Pagar, the group’s 17th outlet is Omurice Keisuke located at Bugis+, serving comforting and value for money set. The menu is straightforward, as you can go for the omurice, spaghetti or combo where you get a mix of two. For the price, the quality of the rice and other ingredients are good and it should be quite a popular spot in the mall, we say. Baristart Coffee
Hailing from Sapporo, Hokkaido, Baristart Coffee is the Japanese brand’s first overseas outlet and has recently opened along Tras Street. The cafe is located in a shophouse setting, just a few doors down from Hiryu. Upon entering the cafe, there are counter seats right at the front where you can watch the barista at work. The main dining space has good flow of natural light from the glass ceiling, with a welcoming plant feature wall which adds positively to the ambience. [Read more here…]

Alchemist
With two other outlets at Hong Leong Building and International Plaza, Alchemist coffee recently opened its flagship space in Tai Seng at an ex-biscuit factory space, Khong Guan Industrial Building. The building is quite uniquely designed in the sense it resembles a pointed triangle at a cross junction, which somehow reminds me of the current Potato Head in Keong Saik Road. As with Alchemist, the Khong Guan space has a clean look with predominantly dark blue and white shades. [Read more here…]

Violet Oon
Located in Ion Orchard, Violet Oon should be a familiar name to most people by now. The Peranakan restaurant recently opened its fourth and largest outlet in the heart of Orchard Road at Ion Orchard, which comprise of a retail and confectionary space, along with a dining space which can accommodate up to hundred diners. The restaurant is located at level three of the mall, decked in its signature green, black and gold finishing. The menu for this outlet focuses on Singapore cuisine, instead of being branded as a Peranakan restaurant. I dropped by recently to check out its newly launched breakfast menu, which is available daily from 10am to 11:30am. [Read more here…]

Preludio
Located in Frasers Tower, I was excited about checking out Preludio after hearing that it is helmed by a Colombian chef. The restaurant is located on level three of the relatively new office building where The Mast is located as well.  Head Chef Fernando Arévalo hails from Colombia, and was previously heading the kitchens of Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse and Artemis Grill. The name of the restaurant takes inspiration from the word prelude, where there is an underlying belief of alluding to the constant beginning of something new. table65
It is a big void to fill after the departure of Joel Robuchon in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). The newest fine dining concept which took over the space of the now-defunct Joel Robuchon restaurant is table65, helmed by renowned Dutch Chef Richard van Oostenbrugge. Chef Richard previously ran the two Michelin-starred Bord’Eau restaurant in Amsterdam, before setting up his own restaurant 212 one year ago. The name of table65 takes reference to the numeric identity of 212, except that 65 is also with reference to the country code of Singapore. This is Chef’s Richard’s first overseas foray, which makes me all excited to check out the new restaurant. [Read more here…]

Private Dining Experiences in Singapore
Dining out is no longer limited to restaurants these days. There are increasingly more chefs who venture into private home dining, and we have been visiting various private dining options in Singapore over the past months, including Tinoq Private Dining, Lynnette Seah Kitchen, Lucky House Cantonese Private Kitchen, Ownself Make Chef, Ben Fatto 95 and most recently, the Dearborn Supper Club. Jumbo Seafood
Most Singaporeans should be families with Jumbo Seafood, one of the most well-known seafood restaurant which first opened at East Coast Seafood Centre in 1987. I still have fond childhood memories of dining at the East Coast branch, little to expect that it would one day open at the heart of Orchard Road.  It is great to enjoy some of the seafood in its dim sum renditions, along with some unique dishes at this branch. The location in town also makes it more accessible to have seafood if you do not drive. [Read more here…]

Boruto Singapore
The one year old restaurant along South Bridge Road welcomes a new Executive Chef Jay Lee along with a brand new Japanese-Italian style menu. Some of the highlights for us include the A4 Wagyu Beef Tartare, Foie Gras with Nashi and Cipollini, and the Wagyu Tomahawk.

Singapore Commemoration Local Degustation Menu at Coffee Lounge
The Coffee Lounge at Goodwood Park Hotel launches a new 5-Course Singapore Commemoration Local Degustation Menu (S$40++ per person) as part of Singapore’s Bicentennial this year. The focus is on local Singaporean cuisine with highlights such as Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce, Freshly Tossed Singapore Rojak, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa Singapura and Bubur Pulut Hitam. My favourite is the laksa, rich in coconut broth and truly delicious. This set menu will be available from 29 January to 30 April 2019 for lunch and dinner.
