Food Review: Auntie’s Wok and Steam at Andaz Singapore | Yum Cha Weekends with a city view chewing your Dim Sum

The Place Located on level 25 of Andaz Singapore, I checked out Auntie’s Wok and Steam recently for its dim sum, which is part of the Alley on 25 in the property. The space at Auntie’s Wok and Steam is pretty casual, with most tables right beside the window where you could get a good view of the city while dining.

The Food The restaurant just introduced a new Yum Cha Weekends last month, a dim sum buffet concept priced at S$35++ per person, available every weekend and public holiday. If you fancy some alcohol, you can opt to top up S$35++ for unlimited Prosecco, wines and Tiger beer. In terms of the buffet selections, it is moderately decent with a focus on traditional Cantonese dim sum, local favourites and Chinese desserts.

There is an order slip on each table, where I started with some of the usual classics like Siew Mai, Xiao Long Pau, Chee Cheong Fun, Prawn Dumpling, Glutinous Rice, Chicken Feet and Deep-Fried Yam Puff.

There is also a premium section on the menu where each diner can select one item, which include Lobster Congee, Wagyu Short Rib Mantou Sliders or Scallop Siew Mai.

I managed to try both Lobster Congee and Scallop Siew Mai. The Siew Mai is not too bad, though the congee taste and texture is slightly diluted for me.

Ala carte dishes aside, there is also a buffet line which feature Chinese dishes like Organic Wok-Fried Rice, Wok-Fried Carrot Cake and congee. Get ready to load up on carbs here.

And if you are still hungry, there is also an option to order additional premium main courses at additional S$10++, which include the likes of Deep-Fried Barramundi Fillet served with a savoury light soya sauce, Deep-Fried Pork Belly and Mapo Tofu.

Desserts are locally inspired flavours like Tau Suan and Red Bean Soup. You could also get a dose of homemade barley.

Rants Still missing some of my favourite dim sum like Baked Barbecue Pork Pastry, and it would also have been better if the Chee Cheong Fun comes with fillings like char siew instead of plain rice rolls.

Will I Return Again? For the price, it is a decent value if you stick to the basic selections. The choice of dim sum and dishes on the buffet line should suffice in filling up your stomach, though the quality could definitely be stepped up.
