Snippets: Best Hawker Stalls to Try at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre | From Delicious Bak Chor Mee to Lor Mee

Taman Jurong, Singapore – The design of this hawker centre in the west is modern and well-ventilated. The food stalls span across levels 2 and 3, and here are some of the best hawker stalls in Taman Jurong Food Centre for us!

*******

58 Minced Meat Noodle
One of the popular Bak Chor Mee stall, be prepared to queue for awhile to wait for your order. The noodles here is not too bad with its springy texture and ingredients, where you have the option of adding as much vinegar as you fancy to the noodles. It is not life changing like the Michelin-starred Tai Hwa, but competent enough.

Tien Lai Rice Stall
If you are craving for a good plate of roast meat rice, this is the stall to go to in Taman Jurong. The char siew and roast duck are quite tender and it goes especially well with the black sauce. A big fan of roast duck rice, Rantee was all praised for this.

De Ji Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken
Checked out this relatively new stall in the food centre which dishes out HK style soya sauce chicken. I had the chicken noodles but I requested for drumstick instead. The chicken is quite tender and flavourful, though I feel that the noodles taste could be better. Overall, it is an above average bowl of soya sauce chicken.

Feng Zhen Lor Mee
Prices of the Lor Mee at this popular stall start from S$3, where you can’t possibly miss the incessantly long queue. I opted for the S$3.50 option which has a mix of sliced and fried fish in the Lor Mee. In terms of flavour, it has that old school taste though I feel that the gravy could be more robust. A worthy option to have at Taman Jurong, though I would gladly head back to Bendemeer Food Centre for my old school Lor Mee fix.

ButterNut
This stall dishes out Modern Western Fusion items such as pizza, spaghetti and salad at affordable prices. As a Halal certified stall, you can expect pizza flavours such as smoked duck, butternut chicken and mushroom truffle pizza. I like the fact that the crust of the pizza is thin, and the flavours are generally good and stay true to its name.

Yumm’ee Foods & Michelle Agar Agar and Cake
This stall in Taman Jurong sells homemade kuehs like Ondeh-Ondeh, Ang Ku Kueh and other Nonya Kuehs. It is often sold out by late morning, so do make sure you visit the stall before 10am if you will like to have the full selections of kuehs available. Unfortunately I only managed to try the ang ku kueh during our visit, and could only say I wished I had managed to snag some of their ondeh-ondeh too. Till next time!
