Bedok, Singapore – With two very god hawker centres within close proximity in Bedok Central, we scoured for the best hawker stalls across Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre and Blk 216 Bedok, here are the must try stalls if you are in Bedok.

Bedok Chwee Kueh
This stall probably needs no further introduction and is one of most popular Chwee Kueh stall in Singapore other than Jian Bo Shui Kueh in Tiong Bahru. Located in Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre and a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand stall, you have to order two pieces of Chwee Kueh minimally, starting from S$1 for 2 pieces, $1.50 for 3 pieces and $2 for 4 pieces, with a minimum order of 4 if you want to separate the ingredients. The best part of Chwee Keuh for me is the preserved radish, better known as ‘chye poh’. The chye poh from this stall is delicious, and the staff doesn’t stinge in the portion of it as the steamed rice cake is topped generously with it. [Read more here…]

Hock Hai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle
Another Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand stall in Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre is Hock Hai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle. Famous for its Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee, the curry is the main star for me without a doubt. The curry is lemak enough yet not too cloying. I actually find myself drinking the curry on its own and despite some feedback from others that it tend to be on the sweeter end, the sweetness is acceptable for me. [Read more here…]

Pin Xiang Hainanese Chicken Rice
This stall spots a long queue of customers even during the Circuit Breaker period in Singapore, perhaps an indication of how popular this stall is. At Pin Xiang, the rice is not greasy and is well-balanced with the fragrance of chicken stock, garlic and ginger. The poached chicken here is succulent, yet not too fatty despite me ordering the chicken thigh. Pin Xiang does not debone for its customers, and that’s the way I prefer too. [Read more here…]

Chris Kway Chap
Located at Blk 216 Bedok North Street 1 Market & Food Centre, Chris Kway Chap is likely one of the stores with the longest queue at the hawker centre. Chris does a very well-balanced bowl of kway, with the savoury broth not too sweet or salty. The rice sheet texture is rather soft, yet not too clumpy. Go for the Braised Pork Belly, Braised Egg, Braised Beancurd, ‘Tau Pok’ and the most important item for me, Pig Skin! [Read more here…]

Prawn & Mee
The prawn noodles stall is run by two young hawkers and the stall was previously a Japanese fusion concept called Plum & Rice. The menu is minimalist and choose from Prawn Noodle or Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle in dry or soup versions, at S$4/S$6/S$8. The soup is a flavourful version prepared from pork broth and prawn shells. The ingredients like the pork ribs are tender, while the prawn is fresh. Overall, it is a competent bowl of prawn noodles. [Read more here…]

Sin Ho
Sin Ho has been famous for its Prawn Paste Chicken (aka ‘Har Cheong Gai’) and it also offers other daily zi-char fares in the evening only, while it operates as a fish soup store in the day. Other signature dishes include the Sambal Lala and Crayfish Seafood Soup. [Read more here…]

Joo Chiat Chiap Kee
You can’t miss the long queue at Joo Chiat Chiap Kee, a corner stall which specialises in fishball noodles. One of the selling point of this stall is that the fishballs are freshly made in-house, which is quite a feat considering that the stall has been around since 1965. Expect bouncy fishballs, and go for that popular sambal chilli.

Chai Chee Cai Tou Guo
Delicious Fried Carrot Cake Stripes, an old school delight and this stall in Bedok is one of the most popular stalls for a quick post-meal snack. Each batch sells out really quickly and starts from S$2 where you get 12 stripes of freshly made, crispy carrot sticks.

The presentation of food in plastic disposable boxes is simply depressing. Get the proper reusable wares for your shots!

    • Unfortunately this article is compiled during the Circuit Breaker measures, and we had to only do takeaway. As you may have noticed, the containers are reusable food containers which we have been reusing when we head out to do our takeaways. Unfortunately we do not seek to re-plate our food and waste more resources in the effort to take picture-perfect shot.

Apologies, not able to address you directly as you have left this as an anonymous comment.
