Food Review: Kream & Kensho At Kampong Bahru Road | Spacious Fusion Cafe Near Everton Park

The Place Taking over the space of the now-defunct Strangers’ Reunion along Kampong Bahru Road is the few weeks old Kream & Kensho. I love the minimalist interior of the cafe, with a coffee counter table and there are beautiful arches which segments the space nicely. It is relatively spacious for a cafe, though it was packed for both of my visits.

The Food A quick glance at the concise menu and you will notice some Japanese elements in the dishes, such as Kombu Fries (S$15), Sakura Ebi Capellini (S$13) and Tempura (S$12). For a start, I do like the coffee here. I tried both the Iced Black (S$5) and Flat White (S$5), and the smooth coffee flavour is intense enough for me.

I decided on the Mushroom Toast (S$16), a combination of chestnut, truffle scrambled eggs and brioche. I love mushrooms, so this dish can’t go very wrong for me. The brioche has the right texture, and there’s just a tinge of truffle flavour on the eggs.

I also had the Sakura Ebi Capellini (S$13), a slightly spicy fusion pasta dish. Not much surprise for this dish, though it is a decent rendition.

For dessert, my dining companions decided to go for the Deconstructed Tokyo Banana (S$10), which is essentially banana custard and cacao nib. Well, it is quite an interesting take on the familiar Tokyo banana. I am pretty neutral towards this dish.

Rants If you are driving, there are limited parking lots along Blair Road. Otherwise, the cafe is not exactly very close to the nearest Outram Park MRT.

Will I Return Again? Good coffee at Kream & Kensho and I do like the cafe vibes here. It is worth checking out if you are a cafe lover.
