Food Review: Singapore Bao At Bendemeer Market & Food Centre | One Of The Best Glutinous Rice In Singapore

The Place It has one of the best glutinous rice in my opinion. Located in Bendemeer Market & Food Centre, Singapore Bao is a popular stall which bus ironically famous for its glutinous rice. The stall owner used to sell handmade buns in the past, but has done away with making bao or buns. The stall is located in a very busy hawker centre at Boon Keng MRT, and is one which I used to patronise very frequently.

The Food It takes confidence for a hawker stall to focus on selling one of two dishes, and Singapore Bao is one such fine example.

Choose from the Siew Mai (S$0.70) or Glutinous Rice Chicken (S$2), though my recommendation is why not both? It is not uncommon to spot a long queue as it starts selling after 7am, and is usually sold out before 10am.

I like the Siew Mai as it comes in a plump size. It goes very well with the sweet chilli sauce.

The highlight though, is definitely the Glutinous Rice Chicken. This has generous fillings of chicken meat, but it is really the delicious rice that I appreciate. The rice is flavourful on its own, though it is better with some of the sweet chilli sauce.

Rants The items at this stall sells out really early, typically before 10am. Expect a queue as well.

Will I Return Again? Needless to say, yes. Try this if you love glutinous rice.
