Food Review: Eggslut Singapore At Scotts Square | Famous Los Angeles Sandwich Brand Opens First Outlet In South-East Asia

The Place I love eggs, and the egg-citing opening this month has to be Eggslut. Located at Scott’s Square in the heart of Orchard Road, this is the renowned Los Angeles brand first South-East Asia outlet and its 15th outlet worldwide.

The space of Eggslut Singapore is causal industrial-chic and I like the full glass panes where you can people watch, and at the same time it also allows ample natural light to flow in during the day. Eggslut is brought in by the Korea-based SPC Group which is also behind Paris Baguette and Shake Shack in Singapore. It will open on 9 September at 11am.

The Food Everything about eggs, hence the name Eggslut. The signature dish here is the Fairfax Sandwich (S$12) with cage-free soft scrambled eggs, chives, caramelised onions, cheddar cheese and sriracha mayonnaise in a warm brioche bun. Noteworthy mention for the brioche bun which is specially imported from South Korea.

The Fairfax Sandwich is definitely my favourite here, and order this if you only have space for one. I like the soft egg texture which is buttery enough for my liking.

Not meant to be insulting when you order this dish, the specialty dish Slut (S$11) is served in a glass jar and has cage-free coddled egg on housemade potato puree topped with grey salt and chives, served with a sliced baguette. Dip the baguette into the egg contents in the jar!

The Gaucho Sandwich (S$23) comes with seared wagyu tri-tip steak slices, over-medium egg, chimichurri sauce, red onions and dressed arugula in a warm brioche bun.

Alternatively, there is the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich (S$12) where you get Applewood smoked bacon over a medium egg, topped with generous cheddar cheese and chipotle ketchup. I prefer this to the Gaucho Sandwich as the eggs and cheese really make a difference for me.

There are also side dishes such as Truffle Hash Browns (S$4.50) and Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie (S$3.50).

For drinks, expect coffee by Common Man Coffee Roasters and soda drinks by craft brewery Brewlander.

Rants The menu comes with no images, which may be hard to visualise for first time diners.

Will I Return Again? For the love of eggs, yes. Eggslut is a good casual dining option along Scotts Road and this could very well be the new popular hangout spot.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
