Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen
A new contemporary Italian grill restaurant along Craig Road by Food Concepts Group, which also owns Zafferano Italian Restaurant & Lounge and Z Bar, the name Griglia is inspired by summer outdoor grill known as the grigliata. Most of the dishes are prepared over the grill and traditionally, Grigliata dishes are less intense and more Mediterranean in flavour. From the menu, there are antipasti, artisanal salumi, main courses, sides, cheeses and desserts, and an extensive wine list of more than 100 wines from different regions, with up to 85% from Italy. [Read more here…]

MadASS
Located in Change Alley Mall at Raffles Place, MadASS is short for Mad About Sucre Social, and is the sister brand of the acclaimed patisserie restaurant along Teo Hong Road, Mad About Sucre. The space of MadASS is casual and it resonates with its aim of providing fast-serve-food and in the brand’s words, a “Gourmet Social Movement”.  Similar to Mad About Sucre, the dishes are prepared with all-natural, seasonal ingredients without preservatives, artificial additives and artificial flavours. Lunch at MadASS is highly customisable. Customers can choose from 6 different options and pair them with your own preferred bases, of which you can choose to change every other day. Friends Cafe HK
Located in Springside Walk at The Brooks (a mixed condominium development), Friends Cafe HK (朋友冰室) is a casual Hong Kong style ‘char can teng’ teahouse which opened recently. My first Hong Kong moment is the signboard at its entrance, reminiscent of those in Hong Kong. The interior takes after quintessential teahouse decor and vibes in Hong Kong, with a mix of tables and banquette seating. Expect a wallet-friendly, home-style menu, with the likes of snacks like French Toast (S$3.50), Deep Fried Sotong Balls (S$2.50), Curry Fish Balls (S$4) and Peanut Butter Milk Toast (S$1.80). There are also set meals at S$6.50 or S$7, which comes with a main course, side dish of your choice (eggs/luncheon meat/sausage), and a complimentary toast with butter. [Read more here…]

Thirty Six Brewlab & Smokehouse

With a 500 litre microbrewery and 23 taps at the bar, the local craft brewery Lion Brewery Co meets you at Thirty Six Brewlab & Smokehouse for some craft beer over grilled food. For fans of craft beer, this is a must visit spot in town, hidden away in small alley between Chinatown and Telok Ayer. The food menu is focused on open flame grilling, with must-try includes my favourite Spicy Pork Belly Satay, Sticky BBQ Pork Ribs and the Wood Fired Cauliflower. And not to forget, the interior decor of Thirty Six is worth a visit – classy and sophisticated, yet welcoming.
