Food Review: Offshore Bar & Grill At Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal | Alfresco Seafood Barbecue Buffet With Sea View

The Place Located at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, Offshore Bar & Grill is a few weeks old concept which specialises in seafood barbecue dining right beside the sea. It occupies the side of the Ferry Terminal, a pretty unique dining ambience in Singapore as it is probably as close to Kelong style dining as it can be.

The best seats in the house are the ones nearest to the sea, and it is great that tables are well-spaced out, which means it is unlikely you get choked by the flames of the adjacent tables.

The fairy lights also add to the slightly dreamy illusion that I’m not dining in Singapore.

The Food I went for dinner, which is buffet style. The basic package is the Happy Feast (S$69++) per person where you get a half lobster on top of a buffet-style selection of seafood, meat, and vegetables. Choose from steamy shabu-shabu or smoky charcoal to prepare your dishes.

You can also add on the Super Happy (S$49++ per table) package for more seafood – you’ll get to access the aquarium and choose from a selection of seasonal live seafood; or add S$29++ per person for free-flowing booze from the house with the likes of House Beers (Stella Artois, Black Cab stout), House Spirits (Smirnoff vodka, Red Label whisky, Gordon gin, Matesalem rum, Remy VSOP brandy, Jose Cuervo tequila) and House wine (Terrazas Altos Chardonnay white wine, Terrazas Altos Malbec red wine).

To order, simply head to the common area where the food is displayed and let the staff know which items you want to try. You are not allowed to take your own food due to hygiene measures.

I managed to try some of the seafood like the prawns, scallops, mudcrab and salmon fillet. It was fun trying to barbecue the food as it has been a long time since I had such an experience outdoors.

The meat selection includes the likes of beef, chicken, pork belly, sausages, chicken wings, and more. The beef and chicken are quite good, as the meats are quite juicy and well-marinated.

There are also skewers selection which I recommend too. It is easy to grill and eat as the meats fall off the skewers easily. Go for the salmon, chicken tandoori and roasted sesame sauce chicken if you can.

Other than raw food, there is a small cooked food buffet counter which serves the likes of fried rice, noodles, and snacks like wedges. There is nothing much to shout about here and this is definitely not the highlight of the restaurant.

Rants The outdoor dining space is at the mercy of the weather and it will definitely dampen the experience on a wet evening.

Will I Return Again? The main highlight of Offshore Bar & Grill for me is the obscure location. It doesn’t feel like a dining experience in urban-like Singapore, and the dining vibe is extremely chillax especially if the weather is merciful.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
