Food Scoops: The Most Exciting New Dining Concepts To Check Out In Joo Chiat Right Now

Singapore – Joo Chiat is buzzing with new eateries, cafes and restaurants in the past few months, a gentrification which remind me of Tiong Bahru many years ago. Here are the exciting new openings to suss out!

Forma
Forma is a new Italian restaurant along Tembeling Road with a pasta-focused programme by The Cicheti Group, in collaboration with Singapore’s foremost pasta artisan Yumhwa Lee of Ben Fatto. With a pasta focused theme, the menu at Forma is concise and you can expect a series of starters, pastas, mains and desserts. The opening selection features seven traditional pasta dishes based on regionality and framed broadly from North to South of Italy, and to the Islands. [Read more here…]

Hello Arigato
With its first outlet in Upper Thomson last year, Hello Arigato serves Japanese comfort food and is most well-known for its sando, or Japanese sandwich. The second outlet opened in Joo Chiat last month, with an exclusive Har Cheong Sando option in addition to its all-time favourite Tamago Sando and Beef Sando. Grab a coffee and sando, and brunch is great.

Cafe Natsu
A concept by the Ebb & Flow Group (Tigerlily, Willow), Cafe Natsu is strategically located at the junction of Joo Chiat and Koon Seng Road, right beside hole-in-the-wall Kohi Roastery & Coffee Bar. It will be opening on 10 May, and you can expect dishes such as Eggs Benedict and Soufflé Pancakes with Japanese touches. The gorgeous space is framed by wooden window panes and has great natural lighting in the day.

Kohi Roastery & Coffee Bar
Kohi is a Japanese influenced cafe from Bangkok, Thailand. It started out late last year as a back-alley take-out store by tipping service. It has since added table and chairs to the back-alley, and along the shophouse corridor. Kohi serves a comprehensive coffee list, and this is one of the most charming spot for a pit-stop in Joo Chiat, right close to the famous row of colourful Peranakan heritage shophouses.
