Food Review: Skewers Yakitori Izakaya At Cuppage Plaza | No-frills, Cosy Japanese Restaurant For Chicken Sticks

The Place Located on level four of Cuppage Plaza, Skewers Yakitori Izakaya is quite the foodie’s secret spot to go to for a no-frills Japanese yakitori dining experience. Enter through the curtain and what lies beneath the door is a cosy and slightly smoky space, with small tables and counter seating. You get that izakaya vibes, and it feels authentic.

It is a popular spot so I highly recommend booking in advance.

The Food A straightforward menu which lists all the chicken parts by their prices per stick. You get the classic cuts as well as innards, along with sides like ramen and oyako don.

I managed to try a good variety of sticks and I appreciate that each stick has the part labelled so you know exactly what you are eating. There is that tinge of smokiness in the flavour in general and the juiciness of the chicken is retained.

Skirt (S$6)

Neck Skin (S$7)

Meatball (S$7) with Egg Yolk (S$2)

Tail (S$6)
One of my favourite parts as always, you get that nice crisp texture as well.

Oyster (S$9)

Shiitake Mushroom (S$7)
Highly recommend this juicy mushroom apart from the chicken sticks!

Signature Chicken Ramen (S$13)
A small bowl of goodness with a creamy and luscious broth.

Rants The space is quite tight and not too ideal for bigger groups of more than six.

Will I Return Again? I love the no-frills concept at Skewers Yakitori Izakaya – I can just come in casual wear and enjoy the sticks. Service is relatively prompt and efficient as well, which makes it easy to reorder any favourites.
