Food Review: Shin Yeh | Decent Taiwanese cuisine at Liang Court
The Place There are not many Taiwanese restaurants in Singapore and Shin Yeh counts as one of the few around. With more than 30 years of F&B experience in Taiwan, Shin Yeh is a collaborative joint venture with Tung Lok group and it prides itself as serving authentic modern Taiwanese cuisine.
The interior is spacious and offers a comfortable and relaxing dining ambience. There are also several private rooms for reservations.
The Food For a start, we ordered the Oolong Tea ($12), which is in fact harvested from Nan Tou county in Taiwan.
I love the Golden calamari rings ($16) as the squid is fresh and the crispiness just right. Portion wise, it is also ideal for sharing between 2-3 people.
The Steamed pork with egg ($10) is a pretty authentic Taiwanese dish. This is probably best complimented with rice else it might be a little too much meat to stomach at one go.
The Fried rice noodle ($12) is highly recommended. It may seem like a normal plate of fried bee hoon from your coffeeshop but the fineness and tastiness of the noodle are enough reasons to set it apart from other eateries.
Another satisfying dish I had was the Sauteed fish with black beans ($20). This is probably my favourite dish of all that I have tried. The fish is fresh and tender and its taste is good enough to be taken on its own.
For a healthier choice, we decided to try the Duo mushrooms in oyster sauce ($16). This is a must-try for mushroom lovers as it is evident from the picture below.
At the end of our meal, we were surprised by the serving of some complimentary Taiwanese Mochi as desserts.
Rants Prices are definitely on the high end as our bill for 2 came up to approximately SGD100. Some dishes are also way overpriced.
Will I return again? To be honest, I may only return if there is a promotion as Shin Yeh is not value for money in my opinion, no doubt the quality of the food is above average.
