Food Review: Rakuichi Japanese Restaurant
The Place I have been looking forward to checking out Rakuichi Japanese Restaurant for the longest time and I finally had the chance to visit one of its outlet at Oasia Hotel in Novena. It was not very packed at thhis outlet which I patronised, unlike the other 2 outlets in Dempsey and Far East Shopping Centre. Still, I would recommend making prior reservations to avoid any disappointment.
Rakuichi is well known for its Aburi Sushi and its fresh Sashimi from Japan, and I don’t deny I have some high expectations prior to my visit.

The Food The set meals are the highlight at Rakuichi as it offers much more value for money than the à la carte items. We decided on 2 of its sets for our dinner, the Mini Course ($48) and the Rainbow Sashimi Set ($38.60).
For a start, we were served Baby Squids.
Next up from the Mini Course – Tamago (Egg), green peas and baby prawns.
Chawamushi and soup served in a teapot.
I was pleasantly surprised by the effort taken in terms of the presentation of its fresh Sashimi in crushed ice.
Tempura
Yakitori – Pork and Chicken
Finally the highlight of the Mini Course has got to be the Aburi Sushi.
More Aburi Sushi from the Rainbow Set to satisfy our insatiable appetite. There is only one flavour of each type of Sushi to choose from, so take your pick carefully. I have to conclude that the standard and quality of each sushi is consistently good.
What is a Japanese meal without some soup? Salmon, mushrooms and cabbage never go wrong in a soup.
As part of the Mini Course, our desserts include the Sesame ice-cream which I thought was surprisingly good.
Rants As compared to the dinner sets, the lunch sets are definitely much more value for money as it is significantly cheaper. Service wise, there is really nothing to shout about even though this is more of a mid-range Japanese restaurant. The service standard actually reminds me of my dining experience at Sushi Tei.
Will I return again? I desire to come back for its lunch sets which offers practically the same deal as the dinner sets, and at a different outlet the next time round.
