Food Review: The Muffinry
The Place Another one of the many cafes springing up in Singapore in recent years, along the business district favourite lunch time hangout – Telok Ayer Street. Occupying the entire shophouse, the three storey cafe has a surprisingly small capacity on its upper two floors, with the kitchen and bakery counters occupying the first floor. Opened since 2011.
The Food The usual suspects. Gourmet coffee & tea, served with a range of sweet & savoury baked items filled the menu at The Muffinry.
Iced Mocha Gourmet ($6) is definitely not the word to describe the bland tasting drink. Disappointing to say the least.
Iced Honey & Ginger Tea ($4.20) Another miss of the cafe. Not sure if this is worthy of its price.
Visited the cafe during one of the weekday nights. Nice little cosy place found in the midst of downtown, for a chat after a hectic working day.
Rants Considering the lack of crowd during my visit, I would suppose the drinks would have been made with much love from the barista. Unfortunately, the quality of the drinks did nothing to give me the courage to try the cafe’s namesake muffins.
Will I return again? Most likely not. If only, to muster the courage (or I would say to suffice my curiosity) to grab one of the cafe-proclaimed ‘delectable’ muffins.
