Hotel Review: Shangri-La Hotel Singapore’s Time Out Weekend Staycation | 24 Hours here ain’t enough

The Place We heard much ado about you, from state visits to that cascading gardens, and here we are visiting the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore. With weekends staycation taking its place in popular culture in recent years, Shangri-La Hotel has also launched their Time Out Weekend Staycation packages, which will get you a room at their Garden Wing, complimentary breakfast for two, afternoon tea at Lobby Court, Bellini Hour at the comfort of your room and of course, a 24 hour relaxing weekend at one of the best property in Singapore. Wait, did I mention there’s complimentary Netflix in the room, and you are be watching movies all day long?

From the moment you step into Shangri-La, you got to admit you would start agreeing with its name. Just minutes from Orchard Road, the hotel seems to have found itself a sanctuary amidst the busy streets. Separate check-in counters for each of the hotel’s wings, with the Garden Wing counters nicely tucked at the corner of the main lobby, feeling that bit more exclusive already. You will be greeted by the lush greenery once you stepped into the Garden Wing, hence its name.

The Rooms
All rooms here are at least 50sqm, which is significantly larger than your usual hotel rooms. Newly renovated couple of years back, the rooms takes on a woody nature inspired theme, with balcony for you to enjoy views of the city or the much preferred pool view. Large enough to accommodate a L-shaped sofa and a dining table, you will be surprised by how spacious this room is, especially when you have a King-sized bed to chill in!

The toilets are made complete with a king-sized bath tub, with a mini-TV for you not to miss any exciting programmes on TV while you soak in the water. And yes, the grandeur of the toilet made perfect by the marbles slabs and a double bathroom vanity unit.

At any time when you feel like it, you can enjoy the Bellini Hour in the comfort of your room, with a mixologist to attend to your requests for any funky concoctions.

The Facilities
You might be wondering why you even need to step out of your room. Well, that’s because the facilities at Shangri-La are deserving of your time here. The large swimming pool, with views of the cascading bougainvillea-laden balconies, coupled with a 24/7 Gym facility housed in a Health Club with complete amenities such as sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. And if you are a tennis fan, just grab a racquet and you can swing it like Roger Federer anytime you want.

In fact, if all you want is a stroll, take a walk around the property and you can even find a new iconic structure in the Shangri-La compound, the Orchid. Here, you will find a seasonal collection of Orchids, and find serenity in this bustling city.

The Restaurants You have read our review of The Line before, well if you haven’t read it now! Apart from this main restaurant here, Shangri-La has various other dining concepts, including the high tea at The Rose Veranda, Chinese cuisine served up at Shang Palace, Italian fare at The Waterfall and the hotel lounge at Lobby Court.

Frankly, this is probably the widest breakfast buffet spread you can get to enjoy in Singapore. Impressive spread, good quality, motivated service and excellent view of the gardens, be early for the breakfast, that’s all I can advice!

As part of this staycation package, you will also be enjoying an afternoon tea at the Lobby Court. Get to choose a coffee or TWG Tea, and sip them with a three-tier English afternoon tea set, you can choose to have this either on the Saturday or Sunday afternoon!
