The Place After seeing some pictures of the gorgeous bistro cafe on social media, we were curious about House of AnLi Bistro, a cafe nestled within House of AnLi furniture shop in Tanglin Mall. A walk through the high end furniture took us to the cafe located right at the end, filled with a mix of mainly Caucasians, tourists and locals. 

We love the natural lighting of the whole cafe, where we chose the long counter table by the window. There are other more comfortable seats around, primarily used to showcase the furniture the stall is selling at the same time. 

The Food The brunch menu is quite extensive, where you can choose to customise your own plate, or choose from the likes of lamb tenderloin served with poached eggs and toast and smoked eel with avocado and asparagus. There is also a section under AnLi’s Family Recipes where we spotted dishes like Beetroot Risotto and Beef Cheek. Otherwise, you can always opt to have something from the bakery menu. 

We only managed to try the coffee and Tarte Au Fromage Blanc – Speculoos (S$12) this time as we were not hungry. Our latte (S$5.50) wasn’t the strong and punchy type we would have preferred.

As for the cheesecake with speculoos, it didn’t quite turn out as promising as it sounds. We found the overall flavour to be bland and really flat. 

Rants Getting a table for a group of people can be challenging given the popularity of the cafe despite its pretty hidden location. 

Will I Return Again? In all fairness, we could only say the cakes and coffee are not to our liking, giving the benefit of the doubt that the savoury dishes look and sound promising from what we observed from other diners. We will give a more complete review and rating only after we have tried the savoury items.
