Hotel Review: Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, Standard Room | Beachfront Resort Under IHG
The Hotel I have stayed in Seminyak many times previously and my most recent trip to Bali this year brought me to Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, which is about 30-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport.
This was my second visit to Bali this year after staying at Capella Ubud and Hoshinoya Bali in my previous trip.

My first impression of the IHG property is the harmonious fusion of contemporary elegance and Balinese culture, evident from the moment I stepped into the lobby area which has elements like the Balinese songket weavings that decorate our beautifully crafted living spaces.

It is a huge lobby area with plenty of seats in a high ceiling style, where you get to overlook the water features and swimming pools of the hotel.

The check-in reception is located at a separate corner of the lobby, where guests get a welcome drink.

The Room I checked into the Standard Room which is quite spacious at 50 sqm. The design of the room is a mix of contemporary and Balinese elements, with a king size bed, work desk, balcony and walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom.

There is a daybed in the outdoor balcony, but unfortunately there is not much of a view in my room as it faces the main drop off point in the hotel. I did not once step out to the balcony.

The bathroom comes with double vanity sinks with a separate toilet and standing shower zone which can easily fit a few people.

The other good aspect of the room design is a designated walk-in closet with ample space for luggage bags, as well as a small dressing table and mirror.

The default pillows are on the soft side, though there is a pillow menu should you wish to change to something harder.

Some parts of the room design which could be better for me include having a bidet in the toilet; and I also think that it would be better if there is a dim sensory light in the toilet for middle of the night toilet visits.
The Facilities I was glad I made a booking at Sava Spa for a Balinese massage, which is housed in a separate building. Sitting under a zen pool inspired by Balinese age-old subak irrigation system, Sava Spa has six couples massage rooms, as well as four treatment rooms for singles, and a dedicated reflexology room.

There is no sauna or steam room facilities at the spa, though there is a relaxation lounge to sip tea post massage.

I also checked out the 24/7 Health Club located in the same building as the spa, where there is TRX suspension training equipment, free weights, floor space for yoga, cardio equipment and a martial arts bag and floor zone.

In terms of pools, there are three swimming pools. The main swimming pool is in the resort’s courtyard surrounded by loungers and cabanas.

The second swimming pool, also called Secret Pool, is a dipping pool tucked in a smaller courtyard with lush trees and gardens. This adults-only pool has integrated jacuzzis and is surrounded by loungers and day beds.

The third swimming pool is located at SugarSand, the resort’s beach club. This swimming pool is open to all in-house guests as well as guests dining at SugarSand.

It was also nice to take a stroll at the beach right beside the hotel during sunset, which was beautiful.

The Restaurants The main restaurant is Makase where you can get local Balinese flavors and international dishes. The Breakfast Buffet is also served daily at Makase where the spread is a mix of local Indonesian as well as Western, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian options. There are live cooking stations for egg dishes, fried rice, and noodles.

Pottery Café is a space to get your coffee fix or light bites like cakes and pastries. Tree Bar does cocktails by the poolside, while SugarSand is a beachfront concept located closest to the sea. I had lunch at SugarSand where the food menu has hints of Japanese influences along with local Indonesian flavours. It also has its own pool should diners wish to dip in the water after their meal here.

Every Saturday, there is also Seminyak Seafood BBQ at Tree Bar Garden which serves up BBQ-style buffet in an outdoor garden setting, complete with Balinese cultural performances.

Rants Some parts of the bathroom design which could be better as I mentioned earlier.
Overall Experience One of the better IHG properties in Bali, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is a good base to explore Seminyak. The various pools are my favourite parts of the resort for sure.
