Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Koh Samui, Thailand | Beachfront Hyatt Property With Multi-Tiered Infinity Pools Near Samui Airport
The Hotel Opened just slightly over a year, I checked into the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui on my virgin trip to the Thai island of Koh Samui as I was looking for an accommodation close to the airport upon my late-night arrival. The five stars Hyatt property resort is located in the vibrant area of North Chaweng with SHA Plus certified and is merely eight minutes’ drive from Samui Airport.

I booked the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui as my first hotel stay, before my plan to adjourn to another two properties I was keen to check out in my Koh Samui trip – Six Senses Samui and Conrad Koh Samui.

Upon arrival at the lobby, it is an open concept with a gallery-inspired setting decked in whitewashed walls and a view at the end which opens up to the sea view. That is also the most instagrammable spot of the property!

It is also interesting to note the inclusion of trees into the architecture of the building, specifically the Yang Na tree where its bark protrudes from the restaurant through the lobby.

In terms of the resort size, there are 140 ocean-inspired rooms, including 17 suites and seven beachfront villas.

The Room I booked the King Bed room which is 48 sqm, a very decent size for the entry level category. I do get a distant sea view, and an outdoor 6 sqm balcony.

The layout of the room is straightforward – king-size bed, an ocean-inspired décor and a lounge area.

My favourite part of the design is the bathroom, which is cleverly designed to take up the full length of the room to create the illusion that it is spacious.

The standing rainforest shower comes with great water pressure and is spacious enough for a few people! I also like the sleek design of the shower – press a button, and the water flows. There is no need to figure out complicated knobs and turns.

At the end of the bathroom is an enticing bathtub right beside the window.

The Facilities The main draw of Hyatt Regency Koh Samui is its beachfront location and you get five outdoor pools cascading to the beach level, starting from the level beside Yang Na restaurant.

The highest level pool is biggest in size, but also the nosiest with the least privacy as it is right beside Yang Na restaurant as well as the kid’s pool which comes with a slide.

That said, you will probably want to get one of those instagrammable pool shots here.

Moving down one level is the more private pool area, and a designated adults only zone, though I am not sure how strict the staff is in ensuring that there are no kids around.

At the beach, there is complimentary kayaking, snorkeling and paddle-boarding activities should you fancy some water sports. I managed to kayak just to get a view of the resort from the sea!

For fitness junkies, the gym is not huge but well-equipped for cardio or weights training.

There is also the Spa with private outdoor baths, which I did not manage to try during my short stay.
If you book a room with club access, the Regency Club is located right next to the main pool.

If you need to get out of the property, there is a Shuttle Service to Central Festival which is one of the main shopping malls in Koh Samui. This is priced at 100 baht per person, and they have daily shuttle service at 12pm and 3pm from the resort.
The Restaurants There are four drinking and dining venues in the property. Yang Na serves Thai and international all-day dining, and is also where breakfast is served. The breakfast spread is not that wide, though you get a selection of Thai and International cuisine. In terms of quality, it is average at best.

Right beside the beach is Sesun Grill & Beach Bar which showcases grilled meat and seafood and exudes a Mediterranean vibe.

At the lobby area is Kube, which serves all-day refreshments including Thai afternoon tea.

Cobalt is where you can get grab-‘n’-go snacks, bar grubs and drinks, located right beside Yang Na.

Rants The pool can get busy and noisy as this is a family and kids’ friendly resort.
Overall Experience If you are a couple looking for a quiet retreat, Hyatt Regency Koh Samui is probably not the most ideal option as I find it too family-centric. That said, this is one of the newest properties in Koh Samui at the moment and if you are a World Of Hyatt holder, it is still worth considering as the facilities are pretty decent. It is also closed to Samui Airport and Central Festival if you dislike long commutes.
