Hotel Review: Hilton Kuala Lumpur At KL Sentral | King Deluxe Lake View Room

The Hotel My third time to Kuala Lumpur this year and for my most recent trip, I stayed at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur for a couple of nights. Located in KL Sentral, the location of Hilton Kuala Lumpur is one of the best reasons to stay here. While KL’s jam is notoriously bad sometimes, a fuss-free way to arrive at Hilton Kuala Lumpur is via the KLIA Express train where it takes just 28 minutes from KLIA to KL Sentral. From KL Sentral, Hilton Kuala Lumpur is located right beside and is connected via a sheltered bridge.

The centralised location of Hilton Kuala Lumpur also makes it an ideal base to explore other parts of KL – Mid Valley Megamall, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Central Market, Petronas Twin Tower, KL Tower, KL Bird Park, and Chinatown are about a 10-minute drive.

The lobby of the hotel is located on high ground and with 512 rooms, this is a fairly huge property and there are a few dining concepts located at the lobby. The hotel is also connected to Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur.

The Room I checked into the King Deluxe Lake View which is spacious at about 44sqm (471 sqf). The wardrobe space is huge, and it also comes with a safe box.

A functional room by design, there is a spacious work desk, 50-inch flat screen TV, a sofa couch by the window, and a lake view.

Each side of the comfortable king-size bed has plugs to charge your devices, with reading light as well.

The bathroom is also very spacious with a separate bathtub and standing shower zone, complete with Crabtree & Evelyn bath amenities.

My main gripe with the room is that there is no master switch to turn on or off all the lights, and I need to do it one by one for some of the switches.

The Facilities The saltwater pool is about 200m long and it is a shared pool between Hilton and Le Meridian. Kids will enjoy the pool area which has a slide as well.

Located on level 8 as the swimming pool, the spa is where the fitness centre is also located at. It is a huge gym with a high ceiling with a big yoga room, plenty of cardio machines and various weights training machine. You do need to sign in at the counter to use the gym and get a gym towel.

That aside, the changing room also comes with a relaxation zone, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room facilities.

I have no access to the Executive Lounge this stay, and I have heard from others that the view from the lounge is quite good.

The Restaurants There are as many as nine dining concepts in this property, including Japanese cuisine at Iketeru and European cuisine at Graze. Vasco’s is the all-day dining concept with live kitchens serving international cuisine. This is the restaurant for breakfast, where the breakfast spread is very wide. Even though my room booking does not originally come with breakfast, you can add breakfast for RM58.

The breakfast spread is quite decent at Vasco’s where the egg station is my favourite, with options like Otak-otak Omelette and Prawn Bisque Omelette.

Other highlights include the Indian station which does Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak, a noodle live station which does curry laksa, pastries, dessert station featuring local Malay kuehs, and more.

The best seats here are the ones by the window, which suit couples or solo travellers, and it gets filled up fast in the morning.

Rants The pool area is a tad dated and the changing room at the pool is very old. In terms of the room itself, there is also no master switch in the room or automatic system to draw down the curtains.

Will I Return Again? Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Hilton KL. While it is not the newest hotel property in the city, the convenient location and good service throughout the property are some of its merits. Business travellers will find it very convenient as well since it is right beside KL Sentral.
