Food Review: Nhong Rim Klong In Ekkamai, Bangkok | Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurant With Delicious Crab Omelette

The Place I was looking for a restaurant in Bangkok which serves crab omelet and Nhong Rim Klong is one of the popular searches to pop out. Formerly located by the canal as a food stall, Nhong Rim Klong has moved to a new space at Ekkamai Soi 23. It is a casual dining ambience with simple furniture and a semi-open kitchen concept. The restaurant is also listed on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list for Bangkok in 2023.

I usually try to have a good mix of Thai food when I am in Bangkok, be it a casual meal like the one I had at the wildly popular Michelin Bib Gourmand Jeh O Chula (skip the insane queue by booking a slot on Klook) and Nhong Rim Klong, Michelin starred restaurants like Sorn and Baan Tepa, or a mid-range concept like Samlor.

The Food I was only expecting crab omelette on the menu, but the dishes offered are quite extensive such that it is more ideal to head here with at a small group of diners to try more dishes.

I had to order the Soft Cooked Crab In Omelette (THB430) which is one of the signature dishes which diners head to Nhong Rim Klong for. I was pleased that it comes with chunky and generous crab meats along with a soft silky omelet texture. An enjoyable dish overall for omelette lovers.

The Sea Bass Tom Yum Soup (THB300) is also a dish I would recommend which spots a pleasing sour and slightly spicy flavour. The highlight though is the generous chunks of fresh sea bass within the soup which makes this dish quite value for money.

For carbs, I went for the sinful sounding Stir-fried Instant Noodles With Garlic (THB400) and of course, it also contains crab meat though the sizes of the crab meat are less chunky than the omelet.

I did not quite enjoy this dish as the seasoning is very heavy handed and honestly, it is just normal instant noodles. I should have gone for the fried rice with crab meat instead.

Rants Rather inconvenient to get to unless by car since it is not near any MRT or BTS station.

Will I Return Again? Nhong Rim Klong is a reliable option if you love your Thai crab omelette, though the location is a little off and requires getting to by car. There are many dishes which feature crab meat such as fried rice and noodles as well, and it is best to head here in a small group to try more dishes on the menu.
