Food Review: 87 Club Street, Club Street Wine Room By Chef Andrew Walsh
The Place A name change to what was previously Club Street Wine Room, I visited 87 Club Street for dinner recently where the interior is the same elegant space as what I recalled back in my visit when it first opened in 2021. It is a gorgeous and cosy shophouse wine bar and restaurant concept with a skylight in the middle over the bar counter. 87 Club Street is by chef Andrew Walsh, who is also behind the One-Michelin starred Cure.

Dishes here are mainly cooked over woodfire where Head chef, Chef Vik, is inspired by his passion for wine bar food and collaborates with restaurant owner, Chef Andrew Walsh in developing a menu that explores the boundaries of texture, technique, and taste, to complement the wine list. Expect old world wines and natural wines amongst the wine list here.

The Food I visited the restaurant for dinner, and I started with the Buckwheat Flatbread & Salsa Verde Whipped Butter (S$15) and The Classic Caesar (S$22) which are big portions to share as starters.

For pasta, the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe (S$28) can’t go wrong if you like your pasta to be creamy and cheesy. This is more cheesy than creamy, and the portion is good to share for 2 pax.

For meats, I had the Wagyu Shoulder Tender (S$65/300g) where the beef is tender and flavouful. It is good even without any condiments, and the portion is good to share for 2-3 pax.

Some sides I had to go along with the meat – French Fries, Rosemary Salt, Aioli (S$12), Grilled Broccolini, Pine Nuts (S$14), and Thick Cut Bacon, Balsamic Glaze (S$24). The bacon is sinfully delicious, and it is good that it is not just the fatty cuts here. Overall, I must say the portion of the side dishes are huge.

For dessert, I had the Torta Barozzi, Vanilla Ice Cream (S16), a rich dark chocolate cake which is well-balanced by the Vanilla ic cream.

Rants The menu is quite concise, and some diners might find the options too limited, such as just three pasta options and three big plate options on the menu.
Will I Return Again? I like the vibes at 87 Club Street which makes it an ideal spot for a nice catch up with friends over good food and wine. It feels like a nice retreat after work from the hustle and bustle of CBD.
This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
