Food Review: Casa Vostra At Raffles City | La Bottega’s Chef Opens Casual Italian Restaurant In Cityhall

The Place If you are a fan of La Bottega, Casa Vostra should be on your radar of restaurants to check out. Located in Raffles City, Casa Vostra is by Chef-Owner Antonio Miscellanio of La Bottega and Ebb & Flow Group where the brand started out as a takeaway concept, before opening its new brick-and-mortar in the space of what used to be Macdonald’s.

The space of Casa Vostra is decked in vibrant summer colours where there is an open kitchen right after the entrance which showcases how the pizzas and pastas are made to order. The dining tables are mainly configured to suit small groups or couples, though bigger groups can potentially sit within the same area.

The Food Dishes to expect at the new restaurant include Casa Vostra’s famed Newpolitan® and Doublecrunch pizzas and other home-style Italian fare. In terms of pricing, the USP of the brand is authentic Italian cuisine at accessible prices where everything is made to order, with nothing above S$30. In a world of inflation, this is a welcoming proposition.  The pizza doughs are house-made and proofed in-house, pastas are hand-kneaded, and charcuteries are hand-cut.

For a start, try the antipasti of Frittatina Lasagne (S$8) where the fried lasagna comes in a crispy golden crust, filled with Beef, Pancetta, Soffritto and San Marzano DOP.

For cold cut, the Bresaola (S$14) features home-aged Wagyu Bresaola with Rocket and Parmigiano Reggiano.

On to the main highlight of Casa Vostra, the pizzas come mainly in Newpolitan or Doublecrunch styles. For Newpolitan pizza, the Gamberi (S$28) comes with Argentinian Prawns, San Marzano DOP and Prawn Reduction and Lemon Zest. The dough is soft and pillowy.

I much preferred the Tartufo e Funghi (S$28) which should delight mushroom lovers. It is an aromatic and strong flavored pizza with Fresh Black Truffle, Truffle Oil, Mushrooms, Fiordilatte, Taleggio and Thyme.

For Doublecrunch pizza, I had the Mortadella (S$22) pizza where the crust is airy and crispy. Filled with Mortadella, Burrata, Pistachio, Lemon Zest, Basil and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Pastas are also a mainstay here as evident from the pasta station at the open kitchen where the pastas are freshly prepared. The Crab, Tagliatelle (S$26) pasta is a simple combination of Crab, Tomato Confit, Garlic, Basil, Olive Oil and Butter. Nothing too groundbreaking if you crave for something basic.

Alternatively, I enjoyed the Agnolotti del Plin (S$23) more where the pasta is filled with Pork Stew in a Chicken Jus and Butter Sauce. The flavours come across stronger here for me as compared to the Tagliatelle.

For desserts, you can expect the likes of Tiramisu (S$10) with Mascarpone, Savoiardi, Coffee (decaf) and Cocoa; as well as a simple Panna Cotta (S$8) of Cream, Vanilla, Strawberry, Basil and Olive Oil.

Rants No reservations are taken from the website.

Will I Return Again? Casa Vostra is a great addition to Raffles City as there is now a proper casual Italian restaurant to go for here. The menu is quite diverse as well in terms of the variety of pizzas and pastas you can go for at accessible prices.
