Food Review: Big Wine Freaks At Bukit Pasoh | Edgy Wine Bar & Restaurant Near Outram Park MRT
The Place Located in the buzzing Bukit Pasoh, Big Wine Freaks is the newest spot in town for wine and food enthusiasts in the Chinatown district. Tucked away in the heart of Singapore’s bustling dining scene, Big Wine Freaks stands out as a haven for those who relish a carefully curated selection of wines paired with an inventive menu.

From the moment you step into Big Wine Freaks, you’re greeted with an ambience that strikes a balance between chic sophistication and laid-back comfort. The interior design is a modern twist on rustic elegance, with exposed brick walls, an open kitchen and warm lighting that creates a cozy yet refined atmosphere. The open layout encourages a sense of community, whether you’re dining with friends or embarking on a solo culinary exploration.

The champagne and wine bar offers an extensive wine selection with over 500 labels and 2,000 bottles, sourced from micro-farms dedicated to organic and sustainable practices, which are complemented by a modern food menu with vibrant flavours. Each bottle is meticulously sourced, and the sommeliers are always ready with recommendations that cater to both seasoned connoisseurs and casual drinkers.

The Food The food menu is split into raw bar, wine bar, starters, mains, vegetables and desserts. For a start, I had some fresh French Oysters #4 (S$10/pc) with lime mignonette. You can also choose to luxe it with by adding some caviar (5g/S$20).

I love the Hamachi Amberjack (S$24) with kizami and radish and Bluefin Tuna (S$33) with wasabi and tamari, which is refreshing and easy to go with some wine white.

The Spanish Sardines (S$22) are not as fishy as I thought it would be, while the Bread & Butter (S$8) is a simple starter if you need some carbs.

Otherwise, I would recommend going straight for the Uni Brioche Toast, Tamari, Jalapeno (S$18/pc) which is as indulgent and delicious as it sounds.

For vegetables, the Mushrooms (S$35) is a shroom lover kind of dish as you get an assortment of different types of premium mushrooms like morels, black trompettes, oyster along with yolk.

If you want to have something more substantial, the Beef Short Rib, Confit Carrots, Lettuce (S$46) is good to share with its tender beef flavours.

For desserts, cheese lovers will love the French Cheese Selection (S$39) with crackers and fig jam where the portion is good to share for 2-3 pax.

Alternatively, something easy on the palate to end the meal are the Donuts (S$12).

Will I Return Again? Big Wine Freaks delivers on a memorable wine and dine experience. A must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in Singapore’s vibrant dining scene, I like that Big Wine Freaks doesn’t just cater to oenophiles, but also embraces a philosophy of blending exceptional wine with an adventurous culinary experience.
