Hotel Review: Hilton Lake Como King Guest Room | Affordable Luxury Stay With An Awesome View Of Lake Como

The Hotel Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Lake Como region, I stayed at the Hilton Lake Como during my Italy trip late last year. Lake Como is huge, and the location of Hilton Lake Como is great as it is a short walking distance (10-15 minutes) to the city centre of Como. It is close enough by walking to get to the iconic Como Cathedral to the scenic funicular ride up to the Brunate hilltop. For those looking to venture further afield, the hotel is also quite an ideal base for exploring the wider Lake Como region, such as the picturesque towns of Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio which are easily accessible by ferry.

If you are driving, parking is also available on-site at EUR 26 per day.

My check in process was quite fuss-free and I was offered a welcome drink. My first impression of the lobby and interior of the property is that it looks very elegant, not the sort of opulent luxury style which screams at your face which is great.

The Room I stayed at the entry King Guest Room which is a decent size at 28 sqm/301 sf.

The layout of the room is quite standard where the wardrobe is right where the entrance is, followed by a bathroom with an elongated layout which comes with a standing shower zone and bathtub.

The mattress of the bed is quite hard to my liking.

For business travellers, there is also a proper work desk with USB ports. Overall, the design of the room is contemporary and quite soothing for me. My room does not have a Lake Como view, where some of the higher category rooms in the property do come with a lake view.

The Facilities The main draw of Hilton Lake Como is the open-air rooftop infinity pool, which offers a splendid view of Lake Como and the surroundings.

The pool was slightly heated when I visited last November, where there is also a jacuzzi tub.

It is quite a nice view of the surrounding area in the evening too.

The fitness centre is not huge but decent with a mix of cardio and weights if you are looking for a workout. It is located on level one within the spa section.

There is an indoor pool, sauna and steam room within the spa facilities, though the gripe is that the spa access costs EUR 39 per person per 1.50 hours. Spa access is only included if you have booked the Presidential Rooftop Suite, Superior Rooftop Suite, or the Lake View Suite with Balcony. I thought that it is very pricey for a short use of the spa facilities, and I only took a quick tour.

The Restaurants Located on the ground floor, past the lobby, Satin is currently being used to serve breakfast where the spread is a large buffet setting, or you can choose from an à la carte menu.

For the best dining view, head to Terrazza 241 which is located at the rooftop of the hotel and adjacent to the pool. It offers informal meals, light bites, and sharing platters.

During the summer season (May – October), lunch is offered around the pool area including healthy options and fresh fruit.

Taffeta located on the ground floor is a modern lounge during the day, and a bar by night. The à la carte menu offers international classics, signature cocktails, and a selection of wines. Beverages include a whisky library and classic evening cocktails.

Rants I thought that the charge for the access to the spa facilities is very expensive given that it is typically complimentary for use in most other hotels I have stayed in.

Overall Experience I had a good experience at Hilton Lake Como after spending two nights here. It is a great base to explore Lake Como and its vicinity, and the rooftop infinity pool is a main draw for me for its great views and resort-ish vibes.
