Food Review: Marcy’s At Duxton Road | Seafood-Focused Restaurant With Edgy Interior & Cool Bar Vibes
The Place Located along Duxton Road, it has been three years since Marcy’s opened, a seafood bistro restaurant with a good selection of wines and cocktails. Upon entering the space, I was greeted by an intimate bar counter setting against an eclectic Victorian-style interior. Beyond the long drape curtain is the intimate dining space which exudes an edgy ambience.

The Food The food menu is inspired by Latin America and Coastal Italy, where the dishes experiment with traditional Peruvian, Japanese, Mexican, Chinese and Italian techniques. Seasonal ingredients are used hence the menu changes periodically as well.
The menu is organised in sharing plates style, and I started with the Coastal Abalone Aguachile, Aubergine, Seasonal Mushrooms (S$26) where the Mexican Aguachile sauce lends it a slightly spicy flavour. Interesting combination of aubergine and abalone in a Mexican inspired sauce.

The Marcy’s Crab Toast with Anchovy Mascarpone and Umami Butter (S$26) is easily one of the most classic namesake dishes here. You get heaps of shredded crab meat topped in a crispy buttery toast. Mop it all with the umami butter and it does magic to the tongue.

The Hassleback Frites (S$18) is also a must try item, topped with Patagonian Prawn Cocktail and Olive Tartar. Love that crisp texture of the potato and it is great to have it along with some Sauvignon blanc.

For meats, I had the Seasonal Catch (MP) where the type of fish varies according to seasonality. I had Swordfish which is done quite differently from the usual since the edge of the fish is coated with fried breaded crumbs for that added texture. It is quite a generous portion of sliced swordfish along with other greens like asparagus.

For a carb dish, I had the Arroz Al Salto, Guanciale, Braised Spear Squid (S$39) where the best part of me is that crispy rice texture. The edges have that nice socarrat texture which makes it nice and crisp.

There are a few dessert options and if you can only stomach one, I highly recommend the Marcy’s Pecan Pie Sundae, Peanut Butter Gelato, Pecan Pie, Miso Caramel, Oat Crumbs (S$19). I love peanut butter, and this is not too heavy as a dessert, and the peanut butter gelato is so good!

Rants The table space can be quite tight if multiple dishes arrive at the same time.
Will I Return Again? I enjoyed the dining vibes at Marcy’s and this spot in Duxton is great for a date night or an intimate gathering in a small group. The flavours of the dishes I had are robust and they are great to go with some wine or cocktails. Let your hair down at Marcy’s.
