Food Scoops: Kopikhoo At Tembeling Road | Hole-In-The-Wall Takeaway Coffee Kiosk In Joo Chiat
What’s Buzzing? When one door closes, another opens. While there have been a few closures in Joo Chiat such as Kōhī Roastery & Coffee Bar (last day on 1 September) and my beloved Petit Pain, Kopikhoo is a new (literally) hole-in-the-wall takeaway coffee kiosk operated out of a house in the Joo Chiat enclave. The casual coffee kiosk has been making waves on social media and I just have to check it out myself.

What To Expect? Run by an elderly woman in her 70s named Paulin as I understood from an article by 8days, Kopikhoo has a simple coffee menu with prices from S$3. Hot and cold coffee are served, and it is a standard offering of Hot Americano (SS$3.50), Iced Latte (S$4) to the likes of Babycinno (S$3). QR code payment is also accepted.

In terms of the location, it is in the middle of a walking lane along Tembeling Road. If you are coming from Koon Seng Road, make a left turn into Tembeling Road, walk past Forma towards Haig Girls’ School and follow the small banner to the left walking lane that says Kopikhoo.

I had an Iced Americano (SS$3.50) which is surprisingly the same price as the hot version. It comes in a nice and sturdy cup with the logo on it. The coffee is easy to drink and not too robust in flavour if you are looking for something strong.

Paulin is very friendly and not camera-shy at all, and she is just like your next-door neighbour.

Overall, this is a great addition to Joo Chiat for me as it is a nice departure to the commercialised cafes in the hood.
