Food Review: Terra Tokyo Italian At Tras Street | A Revisit To This One Michelin Starred Restaurant In Tanjong Pagar
The Place Located along Tras Street, my last visit to Terra Tokyo Italian was nine years ago before the restaurant obtained their One Michelin Star. I revisited the restaurant recently for their new Autumn-Winter menu under Head Chef Melvin Chou, protégé of Chef-Founder Seita Nakahara.

The new lunch menus start from S$98++ and new dinner menus start from S$128++ per person, and it features 4-5 courses in the restaurant’s signature omakase style, where seasonal ingredients dictate what is served.

The space and interior of Terra Tokyo Italian is homely and cosy, with a private dining room and a couple of dining tables. The tables are well-spaced out so it doesn’t feel too cramped at all.

The Food Ingredients are carefully selected from both Italy and Japan and delivered to Singapore up to 4 times a week.

I had the 7-course dinner menu (S$298) with wine pairing (S$158). The wine pairing at terra Tokyo Italian corresponds to the number of dishes on your menu, where there is also an option for non-alcoholic pairing.

Yamada Bay Oyster, Kabosu Dressing, Ikura
For a start, I had this plump and fresh Japanese oyster topped with Ikura house-cured with cherry vinegar. Love the burst of flavours!

Trio of Signature Bruschetta
Next up is a trio of lightly toasted bruschetta with three distinct toppings – Bafun Uni, Preserved Yuzu; Toyama Shiro Ebi, Amela Tomato Marinated; and Nishin, Herbed Labneh.

The bruschetta is really light and airy with a crispy texture. My favourite is the Hokkaido Bagun Uni which is very creamy and fresh.

Fugu Shirako, Arrabiata
This is quite interesting. Flat pasta sheet filled with fugu shirako and topped with an appetising arrabiata sauce. The arrabiata sauce has a tinge of spiciness which is very bearable.

Homemade Tagliolini, Piedmonte White Truffles, Sage
For the pasta course, I had a simple looking tagliolini with seasonal Italian white truffles. I usually prefer my pasta al dente, and the texture of the tagliolini here leans towards the softer side.

Anko, Yurine, Zuppa de Pesce
For the protein course here, Anko (Monkfish) is served in a soup form made of seafood like clams and mussels.

Wagyu OP Rib, Kintoki Sato Musume
The last savoury course is charcoal grilled Wagyu beef along with sweet potato from Kyushu and porcini mushroom and red wine sauce. Good flavour of the beef, though not much of a surprise element here.
I was shown the full glory of the OP Rib, before it was sliced into individual portions for each diner.

Fig, Hazelnut, Seasonal Fruits
For dessert, my meal ended with a Fig “magnum” ice cream along with some seasonal fruits on a platter.

Rants The food menu and presentation of the dishes are quite standard, and it somewhat lack the element of surprise by the end of meal.
Will I Return Again? A fine Japanese-Italian restaurant which has been around for close to a decade in Singapore is by no means an easy feat. I think Terra Tokyo Italian has the means to breakthrough even further in terms of the execution and presentation of the dishes. Afterall, Tras Street is known to be one of the most competitive dining streets in Singapore.
