Hotel Review: Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman South | The Better Sister Property Of The North?

The Hotel Located adjacent to Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North, do not be confused with Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman South with almost the same name. These are two separate properties although they share a couple of similarities.

I decided to check out this property since it is good value for Hilton Honors mattress run. I was also keened to do a comparison between the two properties after having stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North.

The hotel is within walking distance of the bustling Chow Kit market, with the nearest monorail station a short stroll away. Notable landmarks like the Petronas Towers, KLCC Park, and the vibrant Bukit Bintang shopping district are a quick car ride away.

The lobby area is larger than Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North.

The Room I booked the entry level Queen Guest Room, a small room between 18.06 sq. m. to 20.97 sq. m. For my stay, I redeemed Hilton Honors points for 10,000 points per night.

It is a basic configuration with a queen bed, a work desk corner, and a basic bathroom design.

That said, I find the bathroom here much “posher” looking in comparison to the Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North where it overlooks the bedroom as well.

Other notable features include mini-fridge, in-room safe, an iron and ironing board.

The room feels a lot brighter in the day as well from the bigger windows here as compared to its adjacent sister property.

In a nutshell, I rather sleep in the room here as compared to Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North.

The Facilities The main draw is the rooftop outdoor pool, though it is not huge.

There is no fitness centre in this property.

The Restaurants Breakfast at the hotel was at Garden Grille, which is the same name as the restaurant in Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North.

The restaurant is a spacious layout with natural lighting.

The buffet spread ranges from traditional Malaysian dishes to continental fare, and there is a made-to-order eggs station. The breakfast spread is very similar with its adjacent sister property.

Otherwise, it is a rather non-exciting and basic hotel breakfast for me.

Other than Garden Grille, there is also a Rooftop 25 Bar and Lounge

Rants Elevator is dated and runs quite slowly. Similar to its sister property, the buffet breakfast is very basic and the hotel shows signs of aging. No gym here, but you gain an outdoor pool.

Overall Experience If you are looking for a no-frills mattress run stay in KL, then Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman South fits the bill. It is not a new property so lower your expectations but that said, this is one of the cheapest Hilton Honors property in Asia Pacific region be it cash rate or points redemption.

So the million-dollar question lies, north or south? I personally lean towards staying at South if I were to force ranked (in reality, I wouldn’t stay in any if not for my mattress run purpose) as the room is much brighter and uplifting as compared to the room design in the North.
