Food Review: Fran’s Sukhumvit 49, Bangkok | Gorgeous Pet Friendly Wooden House Cafe With Viral Velvet Egg & Bacon

The Place Fran’s is one of the most popular cafes in Bangkok in the past two years and after a hugely successful outlet in Sathon, the brand just opened a gorgeous second outlet Fran’s Sukhumvit 49. It is a huge wooden house setting at Fran’s Sukhumvit 49 with skylight on its ceiling and ample natural lighting regardless of which table you are allocated to. There is also an outdoor dining space which is great if you have pets as the outdoor section is pet friendly.

The pro tip is to make an advanced reservation and even though I made a last-minute decision to check it out on a Sunday morning, I waited for less than twenty minutes for a table.

The design of the space at Fran’s Sukhumvit 49 is great as it caters to different dining groups very well, yet there is also ample space between tables and this is the luxury of space I do not get in cafes in Singapore for obvious reasons.

The Food An extensive brunch menu which include popular brunch items like Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, to Pastas and Meats.

One of the most iconic dishes here to try (especially for first timers) is the Velvet Egg & Bacon (THB 390), which features a thick cut of bacon over scrambled eggs and bread. The thick bacon is tender and has a good proportion of fatty and lean meat, along with runny scrambled eggs texture.

I also could not resist getting the Be Yourself: Pancake (THB 270) with an addition of Scrambled Egg and Sauteed Mushrooms. The pancake is delicious – soft texture and buttery flavour and it tasted good even without adding any butter or maple syrup.

Coffee was also on point for me given that I tried both the Hot Americano (THB 120) and Hot Flat White (THB 130).

Rants Be prepared to queue if you did not make an advanced reservation. The location is also not very close to a BTS Station for tourists.

Will I Return Again? Fran’s Sukhumvit 49 is one the most beautiful cafes in Bangkok for me, and there are good reasons why it is so popular. Food is on point, service is efficient and good and aesthetically pleasing as well. There are many cafes in Bangkok without character and this is one brand I see myself returning to whenever I am in Bangkok.
