Food Review: Yakiniku Gyubei Singapore At 100AM Tanjong Pagar | Head-to-tail Yakiniku Restaurant From Japan Debuts First Overseas Outlet
The Place Located at 100AM in Tanjong Pagar, I checked out the newly opened Yakiniku Gyubei outlet, a brand from Japan known for their head-to-tail philosophy. Yakiniku Gyubei was founded in 1999, and it offers 24 cuts of premium Wagyu beef from ethically raised Kyushu cattle. With 22 outlets across Japan, this is the brand’s first overseas expansion.

The space of Yakiniku Gyubei Singapore is spacious where the restaurant also has tables beside the window if you prefer a brighter spot. The ventilation is not too bad, where the space does not get very smoky even after all the grilling.

To celebrate its grand opening, Yakiniku Gyubei is offering S$30 off its Omakase Set: 6 Kinds of Yakiniku Assortment, available at S$68 (U.P. S$98). This promotion runs from 10 to 26 January 2025 and is applicable for walk-ins only.
The Food The brand takes on a “zero-waste meat” approach where the menu features a selection of cuts, including the likes of sirloin, shoulder loin, tongue, and more.

The lunch sets start from S$13.90, while the Omakase BBQ Courses are priced from S$100 for two persons for lunch, with à la carte options and dinner omakase starting at S$48.
I had their Omakase Lunch for 2 (S$100) where my meat platter includes cuts like Fillet, Brisket, Kata, Uchi-Momo, Kamenoko and Flank.

Overall, the portion is not big for this Omakase lunch set, and if you came hungry, you would need to order extra side dishes to complement the meats.

The quality of the meats is decent for the price, where I prefer the more marbled cuts like Uchi-Momo and Kata as opposed to the fillet which is less flavourful for me.

Rants Yakiniku Gyubei falls somewhere between casual and mid-range which can be a blurred positioning for the brand in terms of options for diners.
Will I Return Again? Meats are decent though I fail to find a unique offering of the brand in today’s sea of yakiniku options in Singapore. If you are in the vicinity and are craving for a yakiniku fix, you can consider checking out this spot but there is no need to head down specially for it.
