Food Review: Savelberg Bangkok | Michelin Guide French Dining Restaurant In Chong Nonsi
The Place Located in a spacious house in Chong Nonsi, I checked out Savelberg restaurant in Bangkok last year end, Chef Henk Savelberg’s eponymous French restaurant. The brand has been opened since 2014 but it only moved to its current location a few years ago, where it is also a Michelin Guide Bangkok restaurant.

The dining room features an open kitchen, an elegant wine cellar along with garden views and private dining rooms.

The Food The menu at Savelberg is a modern take on French cuisine made from international ingredients. Ala carte and set menu are available for dinner, where the 4-course menu is at THB 4,800 and 7-Course at THB 6,400 (Wine Pairing at THB 4,800).

Here is what to expect from the 7-course dinner menu I had:
Amuse Bouche
Pearl | Blue Crab | Leek | Quinoa
Beetroot | Yoghurt
Shrimp | Rice Cracker | Lobster & Seafood Mayo

Cucumber Brunoise | Cucumber Granita | Ginger Yogurt Foam

Faberge Egg – Royal Oscietra Caviar | Blue Crab | Avocado Mousse | Pomelo

Hokkaido Scallops – Mango| Red Chill | Orange Jelly | Quinoa | Citrus Sorbet

Langoustine – Baby Tomato | Cucamelon | Pickled Shallot | Ponzu Sauce

Wild Northern Sea Turbot – Eggplant | Miso | Shiso Sauce

For mains, it is a choice of French Quail or Kagoshima Wagyu A4 and I went with the latter.
Kagoshima Wagyu A4 – Kale | Beetroot | Butternut Squash | Beef Sauce
For the beef, it is grilled outdoors before being served. The A4 wagyu beef is flavourful yet not too fatty and I really enjoyed it.

Vacherin Mont D’or
A pre-dessert of cheese and bread is served next.

Apple – Cream Soda Meringue | Apple Compote | Apple Mousse | Rum Raisin

Mushroom Forest – Yogurt mousse and white chocolate with cherry glaze, pistachio sponge cake

Rants The location of the restaurant is not near the train station, do budget some time for traffic congestion if you are planning a meal here.
Will I Return Again? In most aspects, my meal at Savelberg was a good one. Each course is good, service is attentive yet not imposing, and each dish is explained clearly and concisely. If you are looking to have a French meal in Bangkok, this is definitely one restaurant worth checking out.
