Hotel Review: InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, King Premium Room | Chic IHG Property Near Thong Lo BTS With Gorgeous Rooftop Infinity Pool

The Hotel I recently stayed at the InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit and I was quite excited to check out this one-year-old IHG property. Nestled in the heart of Sukhumvit, InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit is located within 5-7 minutes’ walk from Thong Lo BTS station along Sukhumvit Road. It is relatively close to major shopping malls like Terminal 21, the Emporium, and EmQuartier.

The lobby area is quite spacious and there are ample seats to take a rest. My check in process was efficient and my various benefits IHG Platinum benefits were also explained properly. I booked the entry level room and was accorded an upgrade to the King Premium Room.

The Room I checked into the 42sqm King Premium Room which is spacious and modern. At level 22 for my room, I get a good unobstructed view of the city. The layout of the room is quite standard where the bathroom is right beside the entrance, and it leads into the bedroom section where the king size bed, work desk and a sofa by the window.

My favourite part is the king size bed which is reasonably hard to my liking, along with comfortable and hard pillows.

The balloons came along with the bed as this stay happened over my birthday.

The bathroom is huge too for this room category as it comes with a bath tub which overlooks the room (if you choose too), and a separate standing shower zone.

The Facilities The outdoor pool on level 32 is the main highlight for me in terms of facilities. You get an expansive view of the city including the famous Tichuca Rooftop Bar located right opposite the hotel.

The best part of the pool is that you get a mix of sheltered and exposed parts to sun or rain.

The gym is also located at the same level which overlooks the pool, though it is quite small with limited equipment.

If you fancy a pampering session, there is also the spa located on the same level.

The Restaurants I had breakfast at AVA Brasserie on level 4 where the breakfast spread is decent with an ala carte menu for egg orders (including crab omelet) as well. From the buffet line, you get an assortment of fruits, salad, pastries, cooked dishes, juices and more.

It is a huge restaurant, and the best seats are the ones beside the window.

The quality of the spread is decent, certainly not as amazing as what I had at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

I also managed to grab a drink at The Lobby where you can order beverages like coffees, tea blend, pastry and Thonglor desserts. Afternoon tea is also served here.

Another dining concept is Rogues Bar located on level 2 where you can get your hands on cocktails and live performances.

Rants It is not right smack beside the BTS if that is something you are looking for. In addition, the gym is too small for a size of this property.

Overall Experience I had a satisfying stay at the InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit. The service is generally quite friendly from the front desk to the restaurant, and I also had a comfortable stay in the room I checked into where I managed to get quality rest.
