The Place We usually think about Japanese brand when it comes to yakitori and hence I was curious to check out a yakitori specialist from Beijing. Located in Suntec City Mall, Yakitori One 鳥萬 is Beijing’s popular yakitori specialist, and has recently debuted its first overseas outpost in Singapore.

The space of Yakitori One comprises of indoor and outdoor seats, where the indoor seats are around the counter facing the open kitchen where the chef does the grilling of the skewers.

The Food The brand is known for its unique chicken skewers that spotlight every part of the chicken from head to tail, including rare cuts like chicken neck and aorta. Yakitori One only opens for dinner for now, and it has a Omakase Menu along with a wide selection of skewers and sides from their ala carte menu as well. 

I had their Omakase Menu (S$158++) and here is what to expect: 

Chutoro with Grated Foie Gras & Uni 

Snow Crab with Caviar & Yuzu Jelly 

Next up is a selection of chicken skewers: 

Tenderloin – Topped with Ume and Shiso leaf 

Cartilage 

Tail 

Thigh – Wasabi, Sancho and Yuzu 

Mentaiko Zucchini 

Shishito Pepper 

Tsukune – a mix of corn and cartilage meat, and it comes with an egg yolk sauce with cheese 

Wings 

Pineapple 

Chiba Sweet Potato 

Nodoguro and Sakura Ebi Don 

Melon 

Rants Slightly smoky setting, it can get warmer if you are seated at the sides of the counter seats. 

Will I Return Again? It is great that Yakitori One offers an ala carte menu other than just omakase. It is not a very formal setting, so you do not have to whisper to chat. Overall, the flavours of the skewers are good and if you are craving for a casual yakitori experience, you have the option of going ala carte.
