Food Review: Saneh Jaan Bangkok | One Michelin Star Contemporary Thai Restaurant
The Place I had a short year end trip to Bangkok last month and one of my meals was at Saneh Jaan, a contemporary One Michelin starred Thai restaurant located in Sindhorn Building in Lumphini. Also a 50 Best Discovery Restaurant, the space of Saneh Jaan is designed in a contemporary look with a spacious main dining hall and a few private dining rooms.

The interior is also decorated with some artistic works, so the setting does not feel overly formal as well.

The Food You can opt for set menu or go for the ala carte dishes where the menu offers classics and vintage recipes, including those favoured by the royal family. The hack I did was to make my reservation via Hungry Hub which offers exclusive dining packages with transparent pricing that can only be booked through the app – not available for walk-ins. Therefore, I had the Hungry Hub exclusive Sharing Set Menu for 2 (THB 3,790) and it comes with a selection of six dishes on the menu from different categories.
I highly recommend trying the Traditional Sweet And Sour Crispy Rice Vermicelli With River Prawn, one of the standout dishes for us. I love that crispy texture of the vermicelli, and the fried golden texture is perfect. The portion size is big too, so do pace yourself as this was the first dish served.

The Blue Swimmer Crab Curry With Betel Leaf is great to go along with rice where you get a nice luscious curry sauce with chunks of crab meat.

For meats, you can’t go wrong with the Grilled Ribeye With Northeastern Style Dip.

Other dishes I had included the Thai Omelets With Crabmeat and Seabass Tom Yum Soup, Kaffir Lime, Lemongrass, Mushroom.

The omelet was a tad disappointing for me as the texture was quite soft, where I was expecting a version more crisp and fluffier. That said, it does come with generous chunks of crab meat.

Dessert wise, there are a few to choose from and I settled for the Golden Thai Dessert which is an assortment of Thai snacks. This was recommended by the staff but I was not very fond of the flavours.

Rants The main dining hall looks a tad dated and it is also quite an open concept space if you prefer dining privacy.
Will I Return Again? Overall, it was a pleasant meal even though there are some dishes which could be done better for me. If you fancy having a Thai meal in a finer setting, then Saneh Jaan is worth considering.
