Food Review: Nomada At Keong Saik Road | Contemporary Spanish Restaurant By Ex-Binomio Chef

The Place Located on Keong Saik Road, Nomada is a new modern Spanish restaurant helmed by Chef Gonzalo Landin who was previously the Executive Chef at Binomio. Nomada took over the space of what used to be COL, and its interior is a contemporary and elegant space fit for couples or group dining.

The Food Expect a contemporary take on Spanish food where the menu revolves around sharing plates of starters, mains and desserts.

I started with the Peruvian Seabass Ceviche (S$26) which comes with a big bowl of nacho chips to go along with the ceviche.

The other starter I had was the Beef Tartare & Bone Marrow (S$28) which comes with thin crisp bread to have it along with the bone marrow and tartare. Expect a rich and well-balanced combination of flavours here.

I enjoyed the Braised Leeks with Brown Smoked Butter (S$18) where the leeks are nicely glazed with a buttery flavour.

For mains, I went for the Iberico Pork Chop, Apple Cider Gels and Hipsy Cabbage (S$38) where the pork is tender and flavourful. Portion wise, it is good to share for two pax. The apple cider gel and cabbage help to balance the richness of the pork.

Alternatively, the Braised Short Ribs (200g) with Cauliflower (S$34) would not go very wrong either if you prefer your beef. Expect a soft and tender short ribs texture here.

For carbs, the paella is a must try where I had the Foie Gras & Figs Rice (S$68), which comes with cubes of delicious foie gras on top of the crisp paella served on a huge iron pan. The portion is good to share for two to three people.

For dessert, I had the simple Chocolate and Hazelnut Tart (S$16) to conclude the meal.

Rants Dishes are good, though not too much of an element of surprise here if you are expecting something more inventive.

Will I Return Again? The food at Nomada is generally good where the dining ambience is intimate and quite suitable for date nights or a dinner with close friends. Don’t come expecting traditional Spanish dishes as the concept is a modern take on Spanish food. Keong Saik Road is one of the most competitive dining streets in Singapore and hopefully Nomada is able to find a strong footing in this enclave.
