Hotel Review: Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach | New IHG Property Which Feels Like Bali
The Hotel Located just 60 minutes by ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal Singapore, it has been a good ten years since I stepped foot on Bintan, and I revisited the island recently to check out Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach. Located just 10 minutes from Bandar Bintan Telani Ferry Terminal, the IHG property opened late last year and is located right beside the sea. Upon arriving at the lobby, I was greeted by the airy space and sea view, where the friendly staff attended to my check-in promptly. Cold towel and welcome drink were also served.

In terms of design, the architecture of the property takes on a neutral wooden tone which blends nicely with nature in my opinion. Head over to Trip.com for special deals and promotions!

The landscaping within the hotel is also quite well maintained, with ample trees, resting zones and the sense of space is very welcoming for me.

The Room There are 121 rooms in this resort where there are different categories of rooms and suites. I checked into the One Bedroom Suite which is gorgeous to say the least. The suite I checked in sits on the building which is the closest to the pool and beach, and it is a huge 102 sq. m. – 147 sq. m.

In terms of the layout of the suite, there is a living room space upon entering the suite where you get a spacious dining table and living zone with comfortable sofa, along with a big television screen.

The mini bar in the living room also comes with complimentary tea and coffee.

Given the size of suite, it is also great that the Powder Room is right beside the entrance which makes it convenient to use the toilet before leaving the suite.
The next part of the suite is the bedroom which comes with 1 King Bed. The mattress is hard enough for my liking and I had a good night sleep. It is great that there are charging points on each side of the bed as well.

What is also interesting in the bedroom is that there is a big oval tub at a corner, which I did not manage to use.

Another highlight of the suite for me is definitely the bathroom, one of the most beautiful I have stayed in for a long while.

Double vanity sinks, spacious walk-in shower, a dressing table, ample open concept wardrobe space, and an ottoman in the middle of the bathroom if you need to take a rest!

In terms of outdoor space, there is an outdoor balcony if you want to take in the natural air and view of the resort in closer proximity.
The Facilities The outdoor pool is definitely a highlight for me. There are two main pool zones, Voyage Pool as well as Sugarbeats Club.

I prefer Voyage Pool as there is more privacy as opposed to the pool area at Sugarbeats Club which the restaurants overlook.

In terms of beds, there are cabanas, day beds, lounge chairs across both pool zones.

The other plus point is that the pools are right next to the beach, where there are ample beach chairs to relax. It does feel like a private beach exclusively for hotel guests.

For gym junkies, the Fitness Centre is quite decent and I like that it is floor to ceiling glass which makes it an inviting and bright space to work out in the day. In terms of equipment, there are decent free weights, cable machine and bench press for resistance training, complemented by treadmills for your cardio workouts.

For wellness, there is a Sunjivva Spa, though a note is that it is located at the Holiday Inn Resort Bintan Lagoi Beach which is the sister property adjacent to Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach.

I managed to have a relaxing massage here where complimentary transfer is arranged for Hotel Indigo guests, even though it literally takes few minutes to walk over to the spa.

The spa facility features three single treatment rooms, two couple treatment rooms with attached bathtubs, a reflexology and beauty lounge, and a dream pod room.

You can enjoy a wide range of treatments, including deep tissue massages, relaxation treatments, facials, and beauty treatment. After my massage, I was ushered to the lounge for a post-massage drink.

The Restaurants Sugarbeats offers three dining options: Ocean Kitchen, Tiki Bar, and Stix Satay Bar. Tiki Bar is the spot to savor cocktails amidst bamboo and wooden architecture.

Ocean Kitchen is the all-day dining concept for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with pool and ocean views.

In terms of the breakfast spread, you get to choose from a menu of various types of eggs and local delights, complemented by a small buffet spread where you can get pastries, salad, fruits and other cold cuts. As it was the peak weekend crowd, the dishes and beverages did take some time to arrive on my table.

For lunch, the menu at Ocean Kitchen is a mix of local Indonesian fares and Western options.

I had dinner at Stix Satay Bar which is an intimate 16-seater skewers concept inspired by flavours from Asia, including Indonesia, India, Thailand, Korea and Japan.

There is a wide selection of skewers to choose from and it is an open kitchen concept where diners can watch the grilling action.

If you are at Voyage Pool, then the Voyage Pool & Bar is where you can enjoy some drinks and bites while soaking in the water.
Rants I ran into a couple of issues with the air conditioning during my stay. For one, the air con at the gym was not functioning twice on two separate days when I was there. I did feedback to the team and the technician came down to fix it after some time.
Separately, the suite I was in had an issue with the air con and it took a few hours to be fixed as the fault lies with the external generator.
Overall Experience If you want a Bali vibes type of beach holiday without the fuss of flying, then the ferry ride to Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach is a good alternative worth considering. The plus point is that the resort is still very new and hence it is still in good shape and maintenance. If you love the sea and beach, it is also seamlessly integrated into the resort. The room rates here are also decently priced as compared to a beach hotel staycation in Singapore.
