Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars | Excellent Location & Good Value Hyatt Property
The Hotel Set on the historic grounds of King Henry VIII’s Bridewell Palace, I checked into Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars for my recent trip to London this year. I was looking for a convenient location to stay as I flew into London Gatwick Airport, and the hotel location is pretty unbeatable as it is just directly across from Blackfriars Station, which has a direct connection to London Gatwick Airport.

Housed in a historic building, the interior of the building is contemporary and well-furbished as it was only opened two years ago. Another highlight of its location is that it is within walking distance of iconic landmarks like St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern, and the South Bank.

The lobby area is not big, but check-in was fairly seamless for me. My room was not ready until after 3pm unfortunately.

The Room There are 205 rooms and suites, and I checked into the King Bed Room which stands at 312 – 344 sq ft/29 to 32 square metres.

It is quite spacious by London standards, and it features one king bed, a 65” TV, a flexible work area, a plush corner sofa and a walk-in rain shower.

The only gripe I have is the lack of a designated space to store the luggage, and I have to end up using the sofa which is not ideal. For a new property, this design flaw is quite unacceptable.

The shower design is decent, with no double vanity sinks. The walk-in shower area can also be a tad slippery.

The Facilities The gym located at the basement is quite well-equipped with new equipment. There is a cable machine and free weights of varying sizes which allow me to maintain my usual resistance training.

The Restaurants I did not manage to dine at any of the restaurants but there are four restaurants and a bar offering a diverse range of cuisines – Chinese cuisine at Chinese Cricket Club, coffee and bakes at City Lounge, Latin American bar The Leaf & Cane, and New York style bistro NYnLON.

Rants There is no swimming pool or on-site parking in this property.
Overall Experience the best part for me about Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars is the excellent location. It is not too busy an area, yet very well-connected as Blackfriars Station is right opposite. The property is still fairly new and relatively affordable by London standards, so this is worth considering especially if you are a World of Hyatt member.
