1-Group’s newest concept is located on level 34 of Labrador Tower, and it boasts a gorgeous dining view of Singapore’s southern sea view no less. There are two distinct experiences at 1-Alfaro: La Torre is the dining room serving Italian cuisine with a focus on cuisine from Emilia-Romagna in Northern Italy where you can expect dishes like fried lasagna and handmade pastas such as Fettuccine flat egg pasta; while La Luna is a rooftop restaurant and bar concept. Cherry Garden At Mandarin Oriental Singapore Is Now Cherry Garden By Chef Fei
One of the most established Chinese restaurants in Singapore has quietly reopened with a new identity. I checked out the revamped Cherry Garden located in Mandarin Oriental Singapore, which has reopened this month with a new branding as Cherry Garden by Chef Fei. While the previous Cherry Garden focused on Cantonese cuisine, Cherry Garden by Chef Fei is a Cantonese-Teochew concept in collaboration with Chef Fei who has earned Two Michelin Stars for six consecutive years, and One Diamond for eight consecutive years in the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide. Stellar dishes include the Boneless crucian carp congee and Double-boiled pork tripe soup with fish maw and white pepper.

Violet Oon Spots A Beautiful Revamped Space At Ion Orchard
The new space of Violet Oon at level four of Ion Orchard now includes two private dining rooms with interesting images of founder Violet Oon and her years of growing up, as well as a terrace dining space which is slated to open soon. Expect dishes like the punchy Kerabu Kacang Botol where sliced crisp winged bean is tossed in a tangy sambal belachan dressing with fried shrimp; Fuyong Hai Crab which is a dish I tried for the first time here which features an omelette of crab fried with eggs, char siew and vegetables; Assam Nanas Barramundi with Pink Ginger Flower which uses grilled local farmed barramundi topped with a piquant compote of diced pineapple perfumed with ginger flower julienne and laksa leaf; Daging Panggang Sambal Hijau – Wagyu ribeye M/B 4-5, grilled and topped with a piquant green sambal of chillies and crispy garlic chips; and a dish exclusive to Ion Orchard which is the Beef Hor Fun.

Vue Introduces Seasonal 2GR Australian Full-Blood Wagyu Selections
This restaurant is more than just the view. Excellent service to start, from the pacing of each course to the attentiveness. The newest addition to their menu is 2GR Australian Full-Blood Wagyu which has a high marbling score of 8-9+, available on their summer menu for the next few months. 2GR dishes to expect include appetisers like the 2GR Beef Carpaccio with Summer Truffle, Balsamic Glaze, Stracciatella Cream, Shaved Parmigiana; Potato and Leek Soup which features a creamy texture of Smoked 2GR Beef, Sous-vide Egg and Sourdough Crouton. For mains, I recommend going for the beef cuts which features the 2GR Braised Beef Cheek and 2GR Oyster Blade.

New Saturday Brunch At Skirt
How the newly launch Saturday Brunch Menu at Skirt works is straightforward- Enjoy a selection of three starters, choose a signature main such as Sanchoku Picanha and choose a dessert such as the Smoked Cheesecake. There is also life music performance to add to the dining ambience. For a start, I had the trio of appetisers – Beef Tartare with Smoked Egg Yolk, Jerusalem Artichoke, Horseradish; Dry-aged Hamachi with Leche De Tigre, Avocado & Salted Kohlrabi; and the Salt-baked Beetroot with Whipped Ricotta, Walnuts and Balsamic. For mains, the Sanchoku Picanha with Smoked Mash, Chimichurri, Watercress is definitely worth a try. While Picanha is not a typical favourite cut for many, I find this quite flavourful and beefy as I like it. Alternatively, the other main I recommend is the signature Dry-aged Duck with Roasted Cabbage Puree, Fermented Blackberry and Crispy Kale. Lovely flavours of the duck meat along with a crisp skin.

New Weekend Yum Cha At 5 On 25
The new Weekend Yum Cha menu at 5 On 25 is designed into a few categories – choice of soup, dim sum selections, chef’s recommendations, vegetables/rice/noodles, and dessert. Pick your choices within each category and we must say we enjoyed the overall experience. I love the Hong Kong Style Braised Fish Soup with Black Cod, Sea Cucumber, Fish Maw, Yellow Chives, Vermicelli for a start. Dim sum options are well-varies where we had items like their Baked Char Siew Iberico Pork Bolo Bao, Crispy Lobster Roll, and Black Pepper Cherry Valley Duck Buns (top pick!). From Chef’s recommendations section, the namesake 5 ON 25 Roasted Cage-Free Cherry Valley Duck & Marinated Jellyfish is a safe choice to go for.
This menu is only available on Saturday and Sunday, at S$68++ per adult (minimum 2 to dine), S$34++ per child (6-12 years old).
