Food Review: Jeju Sanghoe At Tras Street | Jeju‑Style Korean Restaurant In Tanjong Pagar

The Place Located along Tras Street in Tanjong Pagar is Jeju Sanghoe, a Jeju‑style Korean restaurant in Singapore. While we have many Korean restaurants in Singapore, this is one of the few which brands itself as Jeju-style which got me curious to check out.

The space of Jeju Sanghoe is casual, and it is great that there are partitions between tables even if you are not seated in the private rooms. For better privacy, the private dining rooms are ideal for 4-6 pax and the space is enclosed by the sliding door.

The Food The menu at Jeju Sanghoe is extensive and while it is not exactly a Korean BBQ type of concept, there is a good variety which highlights the characteristics of Jeju such as their dishes inspired by the landmark Halla Mountain, Jeju Abalone, Abalone Porridge, and more.

Of course, delicious Banchan is served first in the form of small plates which are fully refillable.

I started with the comforting Jeju Style Abalone Porridge (S$30) which is flavourful and tasty. The portion size is good to share for 2-3 pax assuming you are going to order a mix of dishes to share.

The Korean Seafood Pancake (S$35) is a staple which could not go very wrong, though I would prefer if the texture was crisper.

For meats, I had the Black Pork Belly BBQ (S$28) which comes in a stone plate and the tender and juicy pork goes well on its own, or you can wrap it in the accompanying lettuce too.

One of the highlights on the menu is the signature Halla Mountain Braised Pork Spare Rib (S$79 or S$89 for the spicy version). This dish comes in a tower of meat and is inspired by one of the iconic landmarks on the island, Mount Hallasan.

The staff will then cut the meat into smaller slices and mix it in the broth where I had the spicy version. The end result is a hearty and flavourful broth, which is not overly spicy as well.

The broth is also refillable.

Rants Prices are on the higher end, such as the Seafood Pancake which is priced at S$35!

Will I Return Again? A good casual spot conveniently located in Tanjong Pagar if you are craving for Jeju-style Korean food. The dishes are good for sharing and given the wide variety of dishes, it is ideal to head here in a group.
