Food Review: Revolution At Henderson Road | Affordable Borderless Cuisine By The team Behind RVLT

The Place It is easy to miss Revolution, a new restaurant at Henderson Road by the same team behind the now-defunct RVLT. Afterall, the restaurant shares the same entrance as Danish design house Fritz Hansen, where its interior is designed in collaboration with Fritz Hansen.

The space of Revolution is edgy yet cosy, and it is furnished entirely with pieces from Fritz Hansen’s design heritage.

The Food Borderless cuisine. Yes, the team here doesn’t really define its food by a particular cuisine, and there are bound to be familiar flavours judging from what I had. There is a weekday S$28.80 Set Lunch which includes a salad, a choice of pasta, and a drink (iced tea, lemonade, or coffee).

For weekend lunch, it is an ala carte menu with starters, pastas, meats and desserts. For a start, I had the Kale Salad (S$15.80) which is a big serving of crisp kale along with cubes of with avocado and tomato.

Another sharing snack is the Signature Chicken Nuggets (S$20) from RVLT days, and the chunky nugget is made house-made with various parts of the chicken, served along with fermented tomato sriracha sauce.

There are a couple of locally inspired pastas on the menu like the Hua Diao Mussels Linguine (S$19.80) and Chicken Rendang Homemade Ravioli (S$19.80), where my pick goes to the latter where I enjoyed the punchy flavours of the homemade ‘rempah’.

For desserts, expect the likes of Pandan Madeleine (S$3) and Gula Melaka Parfait Stroopwafel (S$6).

In terms of dinner service, it is a completely different menu from lunch where you can expect a 6-course tasting menu (S$98) instead of an ala carte menu, with starters like Mala Taco with Negitoro.

The dinner menu officially launches from September or October onwards, but if you are keen to check it out, feel free to call the team to reserve a table even before its official launch. A little of a IYKYK (if you know you know) approach by the team here.

Rants The location is not that convenient by train and especially if it rains.

Will I Return Again? Borderless cuisine is an interesting concept but also a double-edged sword as it can also come across as without a clear direction. That said, prices are very reasonable here at Revolution and you have a passionate team who wants their diners to have a good time. A space to check out if you love designer furniture, comfort food and a glass of wine to go along.
