Food Review: Prada Caffè Within Prada Boutique At Ion Orchard | Seasonal Savoury Menu With Wide Array Of Pastries & Chocolates
The Place High end fashion brands have been launching their cafe concepts within their stores in the past few years and Prada is no exception. Located at Ion Orchard, I checked out Prada Caffè Ion which only opened this year in the heart of Orchard Road. The cafe space is located on level two of the duplex retail store at Ion Orchad, and its interior is decked in the classic Prada pastel green colour along with black-and-white chequered floor.

There are ample dining seats for couples and small groups, with a nice natural light in the day. If you are not planning to dine-in, the retail space for the cafe has a display of air-flown chocolates from Italy and a suite of pastries for takeaways too.

The Food It is a new Summer Menu currently, which showcases the season’s freshness. It is an extensive menu with a section on signatue dishes, pastries, savoury options for toasts and soft bread rolls, desserts, and more. For beverages, you can start with champagne and cocktails and end off your meal with coffee or tea.

One part of the menu I thought is worth higlighting as well is that everyday from 5.30pm there is an Aperitivo (S$35 per person, minimum for 2 pax) menu where you get a selection of savoury canapés including tartlet with zucchini, vol-au-vent with beef tartare, bun with veal and tuna sauce, éclair with crème fraîche and cured salmon. A glass of Sof Rosé wine is also included, which is quite a nice option to go for pre-dinner.
For a start, I tried some of their signatures like the Veal with tuna sauce (S$34); Scallops with cauliflower cream and Oscietra Caviar (S$38); and Burrata with coloured beetroot carpaccio (S$34).

Each dish is presented in an elegant fashion, where the ingredients used are fresh. The flavours of the ingredients like the scallops or burrata come out quite naturally without too much heavy seasoning, which is nice.

From the savoury section, the Lobster roll with dill mayonnaise (S$42) is an easy to resonate option where the housemade brioche is soft and delicious.

Other sandwich options include the likes of the Club sandwich (S$36) and Vegetarian roll with zucchini, burrata and hazelnut (S$26).

For sweet treats, the Saint Honoré (S$24) is a light white sponge cake base filled with zabaglione chantilly cream and fresh strawberry heart; while the Apricot Sacher (S$24) is a richer cake with cocoa and chocolate sponge cake, chocolate cream, fresh apricot jelly and chocolate mousse.

I also recommend trying the fresh Chocolate Pralines (S$6/piece) which comes with an assortment of flavours – Almond, orange, matcha tea, pistachio, raspberry and caramel.
Rants There is no clear signage of Prada Caffè, and it goes unnoticed quite easily if you are not in the know that it has opened in Ion Orchard.
Will I Return Again? The new Prada Caffè is a chic addition to Orchard Road and a good spot to take a break after all the shopping. The quality of the dishes and sweet treats I had are quite good and exceeded my expectations from a fashion brand. It is an elegant space, perfect for a nice catch up with friends and also a quiet respite from the crowd in Orchard Road.
