Hotel Review: Waldorf Astoria Bangkok – King One Bedroom Astoria Suite & King Deluxe Room City View
The Hotel Nestled in the heart of Bangkok’s bustling Ratchaprasong district, I checked out the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok last month and this is easily the most luxurious Hilton group property in Bangkok. Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is closely located to Chit Lom BTS Station and it is easily accessible by walking through Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok which links directly to Erawan Bangkok shopping mall.
To get to the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok from the BTS Skytrain, the most convenient option is to use the BTS Sukhumvit Line and alight at Chit Lom Station (E1). Alternatively, you can also get off at Ratchadamri Station (S1) on the Silom Line, which is about a 5-10 minutes’ walk to the hotel via Ratchadamri Road.
The interior of the hotel is elegant, and the lobby is located at the Upper Level and not on level one.

The space spots a contemporary marble look and is designed by Hong Kong’s André Fu of Andre Fu Studio for the hotel’s rooms and interior spaces. The restaurants on levels 55–57 were designed by New York City’s AvroKO in a style they call “ceremonial maximalism.” You can expect lush textiles and intricate details which are meant to evoke 1930s New York glamour.

The check-in process was fairly smooth, and I was escorted to my room by the staff.
The Room There are many room and suite categories here where standard features include marble bathrooms with soaking tubs, Nespresso machines, blackout curtains, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The main difference between suite and room categories is that the suite comes with a living area and you also get to enjoy personalized concierge services.
I managed to stay in two different categories during my stay since I was all out to make full use of my Hilton Diamond status. First up was the King Deluxe Room City View which is located throughout levels 8 to15 of the hotel. At 50 square meters (538 square feet), it is very spacious.

Upon entering the room, there is a spacious walkway including the minibar corner. A work desk is located beside the window, and the overall vibe is very elegant and cosy. The window is not that big, and one point to note about the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is that the building is curved.

The bathroom is another highlight where the wardrobe is housed in, along with double vanity sinks, standing shower and bathtub.

If you have been a fan of Australian luxury toiletries brand Aesop, you will be pleased that the bathroom amenities are all by Aesop. My only gripe here is that there is barely any natural light in the bathroom which is quite a pity.

I must also say the Waldorf Astoria king bed is very comfortable to sleep in as the mattress is hard enough for my liking. A rollaway bed is subject to availability in case you have 3 pax.

And now, to the main highlight of my stay.
Yes, I managed to stay at the King One Bedroom Astoria Suite where there is a choice of a city view or a panorama of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. This is an exclusive suite category since there are only 10 Astoria Suites and the one I stayed in faces the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

Right from the size of the door entrance itself, it is already much wider than the King Deluxe Room City View. Upon entering the suite, to the right is the spacious living and dining room area with a view of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. You get floor to ceiling windows so the whole suite is showered with ample natural light.

The dining area has a table for four, while the sofa in the living room is big enough to accommodate even up to ten pax where there is also a 49-inch TV. What I like about the whole space is the simple elegance.

There is also a powder room right at the living room.

Moving to the other side of the suite is the bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom.

The bedroom comes with the signature king Waldorf Astoria king bed with charging points on both sides of the bed.

Another interesting feature is that there is a small study room connected to the bedroom, which is like a designated quiet zone if you need to catch up on work.

While the walk-in closet is quite spacious, my only gripe is that the area is a little dim, and it can be difficult if you are trying to find a small item.

On to the bathroom, there is separate baths and showers complete with Aesop toiletries.

Other notable amenities include a personal bar and laptop safe. A rollaway bed is subject to availability in case you have 3 pax.
The Facilities One of the main highlights of the hotel for me is the pool located on level 16 of the hotel, which is a gorgeous open-air infinity pool with a panoramic view of Bangkok skyline.

It is very airy, and I enjoyed the natural breeze while I was chilling at the pool. There are also ample loungers and daybeds over the water which makes it convenient to take a dip.

The wellness floor also includes the fitness center and spa. I managed to use the gym which is not that big a space, with limited benches for weights training.

The changing room on the same floor also has sauna and steam room facilities if you want to sweat it out.

The Restaurants Breakfast takes place at The Brasserie located at the lobby level, and it is a gorgeous and spacious setting. I love that there is ample natural light throughout the restaurant which makes it a very inviting space to start the day and enjoy my breakfast.

There are different zones from the cold cuts and International selections at the front of the restaurant, followed by the pastry station in the middle where you get to choose freshly baked pastries, and towards to the end of the restaurant is the Asian food selection with options like dim sum and Thai delights.

In addition, there is also an ala carte menu where you can order your preferred type of eggs. A trolley which serves the classic Thai dessert Mango Sticky Rice was also making its rounds when I visited.

Overall, the quality of the breakfast is decent. The selection is relatively diverse, even though I still had one of the best hotel buffet breakfasts in Bangkok at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

Other dining concepts in the property which I did not manage to check out include Front Room which serves Thai cuisine, Peacock Alley where you can enjoy an Afternoon Tea session, Bull & Bear for steaks and rooftop bar The Loft.

Rants The gym is a little small for serious gym goers. The hotel is also not fully sheltered from the nearest BTS if that is a concern.
Overall Experience I had a good stay at the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Great location in the heart of Bangkok, where the rooftop pool shines for me as well. The King One Bedroom Astoria Suite is luxurious and spacious, and even if you are not planning to go for a suite stay, the King Deluxe Room City View is also a very decent and comfortable room stay. Service is generally good and professional, and this is one property I highly recommend in Bangkok.
