If you love shabu shabu and sukiyaki in a hole in-the-wall setting in Singapore, this hidden spot in Orchard Road will be something of interest. Located at Orchard Plaza, Kagami is a Japanese omakase restaurant that offers the first ever shabu sukiyaki omakase in Singapore. You get to enjoy both shabu and sukiyaki dishes in one dinner course prepared and served piece by piece in an omakase setting. The 16-course Shabu Sukiyaki Omakase (S$80) is very reasonably priced with highlights such as a variety of A3-A5 Japanese wagyu, seafood and Hokkaido pork ingredients. Don’t Runaway
Free sandwich in Joo Chiat? Yes, you read it right with no strings attached! Don’t Runaway is a new sandwich concept by The Platform Collective – the team behind the viral Champion Bolo Bun and Dickson Nasi Lemak. This Don’t Runaway pop-up space (where Dickson Nasi Lemak used to be at) serves as a test kitchen for the team to explore and refine the menu concepts for the future permanent location. Diners are also encouraged to share feedback after having the sandwiches! It is only available from Friday to Sundays (no end date for now) from 11.30am till sold out, where every weekend showcases one different sandwich flavour. No repeats, so it will be something new each weekend (limited to one sandwich per person, per weekend drop!). All you have to do is download the “Don’t Runaway” app from the App Store or Google Play, sign up as a member and flash your in-app QR code. It includes a soft drink or water as well.

Apartment Coffee Roastery
The most beautiful coffeeshop in Singapore? At least it is for me at the moment. So much to love about the minimalistic space at the newly owned Apartment Coffee Roastery in Jalan Riang, it feels like we are out of town. Also proud that this Singaporean coffee shop has been ranked sixth in the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2025 list! This roastery space is only opened on weekends for now.

Jumbo Premium
This is Jumbo Group’s first-ever “Premium” concept and the menu here is a mix of Jumbo signatures with exclusive creations at this outlet available across both its à la carte and dim sum menus. Some dishes and dim sum items are only available at this location from 9am to 5pm. Dim sum items to expect include the likes of Red Ruby Dumplings with Fresh Mushrooms and Black Truffle Sauce where the translucent, ruby-hued parcels are filled with wild mushrooms and zucchini, along with black truffle sauce. My favourite item is the Chill Crab Puffs which is a dim sum take on the most iconic chilli crab dish at Jumbo.

Refreshed Menu At Torno Subito
Located at the buzzing Dempsey, Torno Subito is an Italian restaurant by renowned chef Massimo Bottura of the three-Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana. Unlike the fine-dining concept of Osteria Francescana, Torno Subito is a fine-casual concept and with a playful interior designed by award-winning Italian designer Paola Navone of OTTO Studio. Led by Executive Chef Alessio Pirozzi, there is a refreshed menu introduced with flavours inspired by Emilia-Romagna. There is also a Three-Course Formula Lunch weekday set menu at S$68++ per person available from Wednesday to Friday where diners can build their own experience by selecting from a selection of antipasti, mains and desserts. 2am:dessertbar New “Homecoming” Degustation Menu
Not often we get such a dessert focused menu and it is from one of the OGs of the dessert scene in Singapore at Chef-Artist Janice Wong’s 2am:dessertbar. The new six-course dessert degustation menu (S$65++) we tried recently is part of the “Homecoming”theme inspired by Chef Janice’s global explorations. Courses to expect include the likes of Tavukġoğsü (Turkey), Sweet Potato Ball (Thailand), Apple Tartin on Fire (France), Matcha Mochi (Japan), Mountain’s Tear Aiyu Jelly (Taiwan) and Chocolate Origin (Singapore). My favourite is our homeground Singapore’s chocolate origin and proud to say, it uses cocoa grown in Singapore so this is a made in Singapore chocolate which tastes good! Michelin Afternoon Tea At Ginger.Lily
The new “A Symphony of Origins: Terroir & Bloom” Afternoon Tea at Ginger.Lily is by Chefs Cindy Khoo & guest Michelin-starred chef Adrien Descouls from Auvergne. Unlike the typical Afternoon Tea format, the experience here starts with a welcome drink (cocktail or mocktail), followed by a series of plated starters such as oysters, beef tartare, and cold-smoked trout. Once seated, the staff brings around the tea selections and spray each tea scent for you to choose your preferred tea. It is great that each guest gets two choices of tea or coffee. The savoury bites are then presented next – Hen’s Egg with French Caviar; Slow-cooked Veal and more. The last act is the sweets served in the iconic “book” where there are quite a couple of Japanese inspired treats this season such as Hojicha Honey Madeleines, Hokkaido Potato Churros and more! From $78 per person (minimum two diners) with two seatings 1 pm to 3 pm; 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
