The Place Located at Icon Village in the heart of Tanjong Pagar is this casual Thai restaurant called Im Jai by Pun Im. It is a casual and semi-open concept space by Chef Vincent Pang who might be better known for his Thai-centric private-dining concept, Pun Im. 

The Food The menu is easy to understand, and you will spot familiar and probably not so common Thai dishes in Singapore, such as Northern Thailand’s Khao Soi Chicken. 

For a start, the Crispy Cloud Egg (S$16.80) is every egg’s lover’s dream. A thick layer of crispy texture topped with six egg yolks. It is a generous portion and could get a little cloying after a few mouthfuls. I recommend sharing it out with 3-4 pax. 

I love a good Khao Soi Chicken (S$18.80) and this version doesn’t disappoint. Thick and luscious curry sauce which is moderately spicy for me. The chicken is generous too as it comes with two drumsticks. 

The menu also allows diners to add on appetiser and dessert to complete a set menu, and I added on the Appetizers Platter (S$10.80) which is good to share for 1-2 pax. It includes items like Moo Ping, Tom Yum Crab Ball, Crispy Pork Belly and Popcorn Chicken Saap (inspired by Thailand KFC’s famous “Wing Saap”). Nothing too surprising here, but a good variety of bites to share. 

The Signature Duck Confit Red Curry (S$25.80) is a fiery dish. The curry quite spicy for my standard, but nonetheless the duck meat is tender and not too bad. 

Dessert wise, I only tried the Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Warabi Mochi (S$7.80) which I not too fond of. The warabi mochi is unfortunately not that soft in texture. 

Rants The curry dishes are generally spicy, be warned.  

Will I Return Again? For a casual Thai dining in town, this is an option worth checking out. The flavours are punchy and if you work in the real, it does lunch bento sets too which fits solo diners.
