Food Review: FOC Restaurant At Keong Saik Road | Elevated Spanish Tapas Restaurant In Singapore
The Place After 11 years on Hongkong Street, FOC Restaurant has found its new home at Keong Saik Road. The new space of FOC Restaurant has a capacity of 54 seats and can now host bigger groups at one seating. There is also a more spacious private dining room which comfortably seats up to 16 guests. Various seating configurations are available, including bar counter seats. At the heart of the restaurant, the open kitchen remains.

The Food FOC Restaurant is known for its authentic Catalan flavours you can expect an elevated menu of familiar Catalan dishes reimagined the FOC way. The restaurant has also rolled out an affordable set lunch, a 3-course menu priced from S$56++ per person available Tuesdays to Fridays from 12pm to 2pm. It comes with the choice of your own starter, main and dessert.
I checked out FOC for dinner and my meal started with their Toasted Bread with Tomatoes (S$6/2 pieces) which is an easy tapa to start. I was recommended to have the Hand-cut Ibérico Jamon (S$32) together with the tomatoes toasted bread and it does go well with the 100% Acorn and 36 months cured Ibérico Jamon.

The ‘Patatas Bravas’ FOC Style (S$6/2 pieces) with Aioli & Spicy Brava Sauce is one of the signature dishes of all time and happy to report that the fried potato is still as satisfying.

I also enjoyed the Smoked Cantabrico Anchovies (S$11/2 pieces) on Charcoal Brioche with Salted Caramel Butter. I didn’t recall it does charcoal brioche in the past, so this is something new. Regardless, that smoked anchovies is delish.

Another delicious tapa to go for is the Dry-aged Wagyu Beef Tartare (S$20/2 pieces) on Dry Chipotle Brioche with Caramelized Onion Ice-cream.

While I am not a big fan of tomatoes usually, I strongly recommend the Momotaro Tomato Salad (S$20) which comes with a rather unique Tomato Sorbet! It sounds like a tomato overdose but trust me, you will want to finish it all. The salad is also tossed with Chive Oil, Spanish Onion & Hazelnut.

For meats, the Charcoal-grilled Octopus (S$34) with Pork Jowl, Cabbage ‘Trinxat’ & Paprika Ajada is a safe bet. This is served with pork jowl, a new form of the creamy potato-cabbage-bacon hash called ‘trinxat’, and the garlicky paprika ajada sauce originating from Galicia

What is a visit to a Spanish restaurant without having paella and I tried their Seafood ‘Senyoret’ Paella (S$42) with Mediterranean Red Prawns & Hokkaido Scallops. You get that nice socarrat at the edges of the rice and the portion is good to share for 2-3 pax.

The last savoury dish I had was the Braised Oxtail (S$38) stuffed with Foie Gras, Port Wine Sauce, Parsnip & Basil Pesto. The interesting bit here is that the beef is stuffed with foie gras but it is still quite well-balanced in the sense the foie gras taste is not too overpowering.

For dessert, I had the Molten Chocolate & Hazelnut Gianduja Cake (S$16) with Pistachio Ice Cream. This sinful treat comes with a rich and dark chocolate lava and a side of Pistachio ice cream. If you want a light and refreshing end to your meal, then this is not for you.

Rants There is only one private dining room which is designed for bigger groups.
Will I Return Again? If you ask me to list some of the best mid-range Spanish restaurants in Singapore, FOC Restaurant is one on my list. Their new space is also a nice departure from their previous Hong Kong Street outlet as it is more spacious but still retained its edgy vibes.
