Hotel Review: InterContinental Porto – Palacio Das Cardosas | IHG Hotel Located In The Heart Of Porto

The Hotel Located in the heart of Porto right next to the iconic São Bento Station, InterContinental Porto – Palacio Das Cardosas, an IHG Hotel, is within walking distance to many of the city’s main attractions, including the Ribeira district and the Dom Luís I Bridge. Intersting historical fact is that the hotel is housed in a former 18th century palace and is within walking distance to the iconic Porto bridge.

I checked into this hotel in Porto after departing from Lisbon, where I stayed at another IHG property, Convent Square Lisbon, Vignette Collection.

My check in process was seamless and the lobby area is spacious with ample resting seats as well.

The Room I checked into the Classic Room which is quite spacious at 34-37 sqm. The interior takes on an old European look with long drape curtains, a work desk, king size bed, and ample wardrobe space.

The marble decked bathroom takes on an elongated layout with a standing shower and separate space for the toilet bowl.

What I appreciate the most about the room is the size, where there is ample space to put my luggage and walk around without feeling cramped at all.

The Restaurants The hotel’s main restaurant is Astoria located on the lobby level. I like the glasshouse setting where there is ample natural lighting in the day, and it offers a menu that features both local and international dishes.

I had breakfast during my stay and the breakfast buffet is fairly extensive with a good mix of hot and cold dishes, and a menu where you can order your preferred type of eggs.

Another dining concept in the property is Cardosas Bar located at the lobby level as well. The interior of the bar is old school elegance decorated in the grand style of a traditional British library.

The Facilities No pool.

There is a gym and spa located at the basement which has limited free weights and equipment. The gym is decent if you are looking to do cardio workouts but not so ideal for resistance training.

Rants No swimming pool and dated look of the room.

Overall Experience The best part of InterContinental Porto for me is the location in the heart of Porto. Walking to the main sights is easy with plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity. That said, the hotel takes on a slightly dated interior.
