Food Review: MyX At Chip Bee Gardens | Soulful Comfort Food In Holland Village With Pet-Friendly Outdoor Terrace

The Place Located at Chip Bee Gardens, MyX (pronounced “Mix”) is the latest restaurant addition to the buzzing Holland Village enclave. MyX is a contemporary take on Soulful Comfort Food shaped by flavours of the American South and Latin American cooking. It is by Eleven Co. Group which is also behind Cudo and Moxie.

The interior of MyX is edgy and beautiful where the space suit couples or groups, along with an outdoor alfresco area which is also pet friendly.

MyX also offers a Book Lending Library and Vinyl Listening Lounge that loans out records and offers a space for workshops and events.

The Food It is an extensive menu to say the least where MyX offers an à la carte menu for brunch and dinner. From Tuesdays to Fridays, it also does a 2-course set from S$26++ per person.

From the dinner menu, my meal started with the Artichoke Dip (S$15) accompanied by crisp chips. The dip itself is quite addictive and savoury as it is made with a blend of cream cheese, ricotta and parmesan along with truffle paste and truffle oil. It is also topped with marinated artichokes, fried Jerusalem artichokes and dill.

Moving on to the Salmon Tiradito (S$25), this has that bit of Japanese element where the salmon is brined then brushed with shoyu and torched. It packs a robust flavour as it is served with Harissa mayo, balsamic glaze and fried capers, along with some pickled daikon.

The Red Prawn Ceviche (S$23) uses local Anka Prawns which are lightly blanched and served with a chilled tomato sauce. It is balanced by the garnish of crispy toasted Sakura ebi, pickled cucumber and watermelon radish.

If you love clams, then the Venus Clams (S$19) is a must try where the clams are soaked in a savoury sauce of Nduja, housemade garlic confit, soju and cream. Served with a garlic butter griddled baguette, the best way to enjoy the bread is to dip it in the sauce.

For protein, I had the Grilled Iberico Pork (S$38) which is lacquered with Chipotle aioli and the pork has a tinge of smokiness to it as it is also torched.

Alternatively, there is also the Dirrrty Chicken Rice (S$$32) which is MyX’s take on a Southern classic. The Chicken here is marinated in a mix of spices like black pepper, paprika and cumin, before it is roasted. Served with dirty rice, the rice is quite flavourful as it is sauteed with onions, red bell peppers, chorizo, confit garlic, Southern spice and adobo paste before being steeped in a chicken stock.

For desserts, I tried the Yuanyang Tres Leches (S$14) which is like a hybrid of Tiramisu, Yuanyang, and Tres Leches. It is very moist, as the sponge cake is soaked in a blend of black tea, espresso, condensed milk, evaporated milk, heavy cream and cocoa. Covered with a vanilla infused Mascarpone and served with Raspberries.

I prefer the Chocolate & Pistachio (S$15) where you get a good mix of chocolate mousse, pistachio mascarpone, salted caramel and pumpkin seed brittle.

Rants Nice and big outdoor dining terrace but in reality, the weather in the day is usually too warm to be seated here.

Will I Return Again? A gorgeous space with hearty dishes, MyX is a nice addition to Holland Village in the charming Chip Bee Gardens enclave. It is also great that it is opened for lunch and dinner, and their weekday lunch sets are pretty good value if you work or stay in the vicinity.
