Hotel Review: The Mulia Bali, Nusa Dua | Luxurious Beachfront Resort Property, Earl Suite Beachfront Stay

The Hotel Located along the pristine coastline of Nusa Dua, The Mulia Bali is the kind of beachfront luxury that hits you the moment you sweep past its towering entrance doors and into a lobby that feels more cathedral than check‑in counter. From I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, it is a brisk 25-minute car ride away.

This 30‑hectare integrated resort — comprising The Mulia (all‑suite)Mulia Resort, and Mulia Villas, each with their own check-in lobbies — is grand in every sense: sprawling pools, massive open spaces, soaring Balinese statues, and polished marble everywhere you look.

If you are after understated Balinese charm, this is not it. But if you crave indulgent opulence with a tropical backdrop. The Mulia is where Bali meets high‑octane glamour. I took a tour of the lobby at Mulia Resort, and it is very grand to say the least.

The resort fronts a secluded 1‑kilometre stretch of beach with gentle waters and sunrise views — perfect for those wanting tranquility away from Bali’s livelier districts.

It is also consistently rated among Nusa Dua’s top luxury stays, with guests raving about its immaculate cleanliness, warm service, and all‑you‑need‑is‑here convenience.

The Room I stayed at The Mulia, which is an all-suites only wing of the property.

My suite category is the Earl Suite Beachfront which spans a generous 130 sqm, but what makes it stand out is how it feels more like a mini‑villa than a hotel room. There is also round‑the‑clock butler service.

It is a huge space— think foyer, living room, dining nook, powder room, oversized bedroom with dual vanity sinks, walk‑in wardrobe and a massive bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi.

One of the Earl Suite’s defining features is its expansive private terrace, which offers an unobstructed, 180° panoramic views of Geger Beach and the Indian Ocean, double daybeds, and a private jacuzzi on the terrace — perfect for sunrise soaking or late‑night relaxation.

In addition, there are perks for guests staying in The Mulia or Mulia Villas guests – exclusive use of the The Oasis Pool (The Mulia’s exclusive infinity pool, guests‑only) and Aqua Pool (exclusive to Mulia Villas but accessible to The Mulia guests); and also lounges which include The Lounge (à la carte breakfast, afternoon tea with cocktails & canapés) and Living Room (shared privilege with Mulia Villas guests).

The Lounge and Living Room are where guests enjoy club‑lounge style service: personalised breakfast, attentive staff and curated bites.

Other than The Mulia, I also managed to get a tour of Mulia Villas which each villa is expansive and comes with its own private pool.

For families with kids, Mulia Resort is well-suited and comes with different room sizes, with spacious balconies where some boasts a pool and distant ocean view.

The Restaurants If anything, there is no lack of dining concepts in this property.

Soleil
A signature beachfront restaurant offering a refined blend of Mediterranean and Pan‑Asian cuisines, including specialties from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Known for its elegant setting facing the Indian Ocean and its popular Sunday brunch.⁣⁣

The Cafe
A vibrant global buffet restaurant with multiple live‑cooking stations. Expect a wide selection of international dishes —perfect for breakfast, dinner, and Sunday lunch.⁣⁣

I managed to have dinner and breakfast here, and the spread is quite insane if you have a big appetite.

The highlight for me is the dessert room, with a revolving ice cream selection and a whole suite of cakes and pastries.

Table8
A lavishly decorated Chinese and Cantonese dining concept, featuring dim sum, specialty dishes, and interiors inspired by the Chinese dynastic era. Offers buffet-style lunch and dinner on selected days.

Edogin
A modern Japanese restaurant known for its open‑kitchen teppanyaki experience. The teppanyaki buffet night is a highlight.⁣⁣

Cannele
Mulia’s artisanal French patisserie, serving handcrafted pastries, sweets, and baked goods. Ideal for a chic coffee or dessert stop for cakes or ice cream.

The three-tier afternoon tea sets here come with a choice or local Indonesian or International snacks.

⁣The Lounge (exclusive for The Mulia & Mulia Villas guests)
Located at The Mulia, it serves breakfast and complimentary afternoon tea with an ocean and pool view.⁣⁣

I had breakfast at The Lounge and the spread is amazing. It goes by an ala carte menu and the amazing part is that there are Japanese, Korean, International and Indonesian selections to choose from. Opt for indoor or outdoor seats.

The team is very attentive to take your orders, and there is even a pastry trolley making its rounds.

And in the afternoon from 4pm to 6pm, guests get to enjoy complimentary afternoon tea which comprise of a three-tier stand and a buffet spread of pastries and desserts, as well as an outdoor live station which dishes out satay.

⁣⁣⁣Living Room (exclusive for The Mulia & Mulia Villas guests)
Located at Mulia Villas, it serves breakfast and complimentary afternoon tea.

Sky Bar
Elevated rooftop bar with an ocean view, best for sunset hour.

Cascade Lounge
A relaxed space offering afternoon tea and bespoke beverages, ideal for a quiet retreat throughout the day.⁣⁣

The Bar
A venue serving cocktails, afternoon tea, and light bites, blending indoor comfort with a casual ambiance.⁣⁣

ZJ’s Bar & Lounge
An upscale evening venue offering cocktails and tapas, transitioning from a relaxing lounge atmosphere into a lively nightlife spot.

The Mulia Deli
A gourmet deli serving fine cakes, pastries, chocolates, and delicatessen items, open all day for quick indulgences.

The Facilities The star is the iconic oceanfront infinity Pool, flanked by towering Balinese statues and overlooking a serene stretch of white sand. There are multiple pools across the property, including lagoon pools with direct room access.

Some pools are exclusive to The Mulia and Mulia Villas, such as Aqua Pool located at Mulia Villas and the Oasis Pool, which is a private, guest‑only infinity pool overlooking the beach and ocean.

My favourite pool is the Aqua Pool which is extremely private and quiet. You can request a buggy to bring you to Mulia Villas even if you are staying at The Mulia, and while it is not right beside the ocean, there is a great sense of tranquility here.

If you have time, it is also worth checking out Mulia Spa where a standout feature is Asia Pacific’s first Ice Room, along with sauna, steam, hydrotherapy and a long list of treatments. My tip is to budget at least two hours for the time at the spa, even if you are going to have an hour of treatment.

I had their one-hour Balinese massage, but prior to the massage, I spent 30 minutes at the hydrotherapy outdoor pool and 30 minutes indoors to make use of the ice room, sauna and steam room facilities.

For workouts, there is a whole suite of activities such as a very comprehensive gym, movement studio, tennis courts, and daily classes.

Families are well‑covered with three kids’ clubs, splash areas, and curated children’s programs.

Rants The property is more than a decade old, and it would be ideal if the suite I stayed in comes with automated blinds system.

Overall Experience The Mulia Bali is not subtle—but that is exactly why people love it. It is big, glossy, indulgent, and proudly over-the-top in the best resort‑style way. It fits different guests’ profiles with the distinct wings of Mulia Resort, The Mulia and Mulia Villas, and the facilities are well-spread out throughout the resort, so it does not feel too busy at each spot.

If Dubai‑meets‑tropical‑island sounds like your kind of vibe, this might just be your new favourite Bali address.

Mulia Bali
Kawasan Sawangan, Jl. Raya Nusa Dua Selatan, Benoa, Nusa Dua, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80362, Indonesia
